Speaking about Ashley's words and commenting in general, the boss said:

How do you feel about no defenders coming in? Personally I'm a bit speechless on it, all just seems like "what's the point?". Every signing has been more or less the same as usual; young players, foreign, no English experience and all carrying sell on value. I'm not dismissing an overall positive window, it's just quite surprising we're going to be one or two injuries from the Mike Williamson show.

    He says 'at moment' too.
I personally think tis is tactical and is designed to put pressure on over potential deals for Austin and Aymen.
If we stopped our business now I'd be over the moon though still.
Mike promised and has backed it up so fair play.
More importantly we were promised change off the pitch. That has happened too and the club Comms is light years ahead of where it was.
I have no doubt we will strengthen in January also.

If that is the case then of course it is bitterly disappointing. I'd give back any of those signed for defenders. Perhaps though this is all just the usual bluffing. I fully expect to see a defender or two - he's not daft, he has eyes

I don't read that as saying "there will be no more signings". It says "I am not going to promise that there will be signings."

I expect that we will get a defender

Maybe we are going back to the Keegan philosophy of always scoring one more than the opposition............... in which case we don't need defenders anyway :emoticon-0136-giggl

The signings so far are welcome, however, if we keep getting headers scored against us, then it doesn't take a brain to see we need a big commanding CB, NOW

And a left back who doesn't let the winger pick his man out and cross at will. I'm not one to defend Colo as he's been rubbish but on the crosses, the first part is actually getting pressure on the ball and stopping it at source

Defensively we couldn't be more vulnerable, we're gonna need to average 3 goals per game to manage a top 10-12 position. A right back and centre back are desperately needed.

I think the case will be one out - one in from now on. If Willo goes then we may sign a CB and I have a feeling if Cisse leaves then Austin will come in to replace. If even one of them happens I'll be over the moon with this window.

I wonder if we're even in for Austin. Afobe, I can understand - I would expect a Cisse out/Afobe in to keep the squad young, but I don't think we'll be spending huge with Arma tearing up League One. Also if Willo goes, again I don't see £15m spent on Abdennour - £5m on Dunk, however, I can well imagine. I'd be more than happy with Dunk/Afobe and in a state of delirium that lad from Galatasaray (Telles).

According to Duncan Castles (more reliable than most Sunday Times journo) NUFC have now offered personal terms to Abdennour.

I really hope there is truth in this.

If we have offered personal terms then surely that means that we have had a bid accepted? If he somehow ends up at us does that mean that Colo will be dropped or will Mbemba play at right back and Abdennour slots in the middle along Colo? Selection dilemma's. There's a bloody first for us.
