How would LFC be if Martinez had been hired instead of Rodgers?

No, it isn't. And the fact they haven't spent that much money is reflected in their inconsistent league form under Martinez and the fact that they rely so much on certain players avoiding injuries and performing consistently to be successful.

Last season a few players' form dipped (Howard, Distin etc) and it cost them 4 or 5 places in the league.

So basically he's doing a decent job given the funds available!

About £230m less than Todgers has spunked then

  4. And? The conversation is about Everton not Liverpool or Rodgers. Just like when discussing Lukaku last year, you (in a general sense towards blues) have to use Liverpool as a yard stick <laugh>

    It's called context love

I realise that it causes embarrassment but it's fact nonetheless

  6. No, it's called deflection. Liverpool and Rodgers have been ****, we get that. you didn't like what was being said so dragged Liverpool back into it rather than arguing Everton's case which you should have done since Everton have done very well over the years considering the restricted budget you've had!

Not really, Martinez completely overhauled and changed the way we played!

  9. Irrelevant. Only one of those three managers actually managed to get promoted. Why didn't Martinez get them promoted if it was his squad?

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not defended Brod, he's ****e. The argument you (and many others) put forward is just equally ****e <laugh>

    Bollocks.

The drug mule brought up a list of Martinez signings and actually said that Rodgers transfer record was better. So you can blame him for bringing Liverpool into the thread. I pointed out that he was talking out of his hoop.

Obviously Martinez has spent a lot less, he's at a much smaller club

And he has lower ambitions, he only needs to find players good enough for 5th-7th place, which he has spent more than enough money for

And he still ****ed that up

    11th FFS

If #bitters actually paid attention to their own team rather than distracted by our recent poor performances, how the **** could he keep his job?

  14. Not to worry though, Lukaku is better than Borini, Balotelli, Lambert and a injured Studge combined <ok>

Pretty much, though I don't know how the clubs around him have spent in comparison. So its hard to gauge how well he's doing without looking at the spend of the likes of Southampton, Swansea, Stoke, West Ham etc. though I would guess that they are about the same and that 5th was a little above where Everton were expected to be in his first season in charge and at 11th they were a little below their expected position. Not much different to Rodgers really who overachieved one season (2nd) and slightly underachieved in two (6th & 7th).

And yet he's still managed to manoeuvre his team into a position above Liverpool. What the **** has Rodgers been doing?

I don't need to do any research to be certain that Southampton have been pretty lean in the transfer market recently!

  19. Quite the opposite actually. Martinez actually finished above Rodgers in his first season at Everton but as failed to get remotely close since. This season is only six games in or are you expecting West Ham and Leicester to gain CL places whilst Chelsea accept 15th...? <laugh>

In terms of spending, Everton shouldn't be anywhere near Liverpool either btw, I and most other Liverpool fans will accept that.

I think Everton will finish above Liverpool. Better players, better manager. Look at the spine of their team. Howard, better than Mignolet. Stones, better than any of your centre halves. Barkley, better than whoever your "first choice" central midfielder is any given week. Lukaku, better than all of your strikers apart from the rarely spotted fit Sturridge.
