This could turn out to be really good news. Hopefully in return we have first pick on some upcoming stars in Ghana. The Black Cats, who have Ghana international striker Asamoah Gyan among their ranks, while compatriots John Mensah and Sulley Muntari also played at the Stadium of Light last season, will offer practical support and advice in youth coaching, player development, fitness and medical matters and football business strategy to Kotoko under the deal.In return, the African club, which boasts eight million followers, will work with the Barclays Premier League club on promoting their brand in the continent.Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn, who recently hosted a Ghanaian delegation on Wearside, said: "It was a huge honour to welcome the Kotoko officials to our club and I'm delighted that we have now formalised a partnership agreement with them."There's a tremendous passion for football in Ghana and I see a real synergy with Sunderland in that respect - football means the world to the people of Ghana and in that respect, they are no different to Sunderland fans. There's an infectious enthusiasm for the game that is wonderful to witness and we are honoured to be working with Kotoko and the Ghanaian people."

Are you for real? I posted this on the 2nd April 2011. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/38984-8-000-000-followers.
They are only trying to help, and probably didn't realise that it was done eons ago. Have to try and give these fellas a break to try and promote the site.
**** me Biz, your nearly three months late, think you were away when I published the first one, bout time you posted a few more though, although I understand people can have the work/ familly pressure etc.
While I'm delighted about this I'm a little confused. Why Africa? If you're looking for up and coming footballers it has to be South America. If you're looking to boost commercial performance it has to be North America or Asia. Surely? Anyone know something regarding this that I don't?
Another Kevin Phillips, is just around the corner for some team, just hope its ours, and home grown I hope.
Africa is still a huge market for football, and is less scouted than South America, so we have a headstart on many teams. However economically, I think Blackburn could be onto a winner with their link up with India going on, think theyre setting up an Indian academy, taking on 2 Indian youth players and forging stronger links with the country. India is THE country to be getting involved in commercially.
Don't think you can forget about China though. Both economies are growing rapidly. If it's money we're after I'm confused.
Why do my articles, which follow another article, albeit twenty seconds later, but with more research, get blended into theirs, including my titles, which were better than the ones they had used, get second place, yet somebody, actually a few. And months later place the same article, although dubbed, from mine, or so it would seem, are ok, just to promote the site, sorry Commachio, you got this one well wrong, Same rules must apply to all.
??? i havn't merged or deleted anything, think we should merge these ghana one's though, how they will look after being merged iv'e no idea..
Sorry Bill, but this story has just recently appeared in the press and the SAFC site, thats why I put it up here. re. merging the posts ? I dunno who or how that was done.
Teams have their pre-seasons in the Far East and the so called Friendly Cup. Meanwhile we have Dong, it's a massive new market for football.
