I'm off to bed before this gets daft, early doors, back the team and don't look for any scapegoats as everyone deserves a chance at this point. It will take time for the manager to get his ideas across and if a player doesn't fit then he'll soon move on.

Mamadou Sakho's game by numbers: 100% tackles won 85% pass accuracy 3 clearances 3 interceptions 1 chance created

Sakho’s name was being chanted at the end by the Kop and he duly salutes them.

One of few positive notes this evening for Liverpool.

You have to say after what was a decent point away at Tottenham tonight's result was pretty embarrassing for your new manager, 53 minutes against a 10 man Rubin Kazan side at home and you couldn't find a way through:biggrin:

Wasn't having a go - just merely questioning what he had actually done to warrant such praise? I did praise him for his second half performance because I felt there was noticeable improvement in terms of actually doing something on the ball.

And for a player who was hardly challenged, Skrtel still made noticeable mistakes and has done all season. They're not a scapegoat if they're actually underperforming.

Sakho was MOTM by some distance - reason being Sakho did his job far better than anyone else did in their's. And again, I question what Lallana actually did on the ball - for all of his effort, did he create any chances? Did he trouble the keeper? He took a few pot shots, he huffed and puffed but ultimately didn't do much in terms of his job for the team. And it boils down to the style vs substance argument.

You may think I'm scapegoating or harshly criticising but this is LFC and we shouldn't be praising players for merely putting in an effort. By all means, players who put in effort and at least TRY to make thing happens deserve respect but they shouldn't be praised.

Time to raise standards - if Suarez or Coutinho had put in a similar performance to Lallana today, I doubt they would have been praised as much. Why? Because we expect better from them. So why do we expect less because it's just Lallana? The same doesn;t apply to youngsters because context does apply but this is a player who is almost 28 and in the prime of his life.

Anyways, I know the performance and result are disappointing but I don't care because I have faith in the manager to get rid of the dross and replace them. It will take time and standards will rise.

Worrying that Klopp is unable to motivate the players at all - normally the least a new manager achieves in his first games. Although the pathetic support didn't help - silence as soon as Kazan scored and for the entire second half.

Wums (except our resident wum Toades) can do one <ok>

At the end of the day we aren't a very good team atm and it will take time to ship out those who aren't good enough/ don't have the mentality or simply don't suit Klopp's style and bring in those who do.

What a load of rubbish. The volume went up as soon as they scored and didn't stop for the whole game. Attack attack attack , Sakho chants, Gerrard chants - great stuff from the crowd tonight <applause>

  17. Agree with that tbf.

You clearly down understand what scapegoating is though. If someone consistently plays poor then fair enough, they deserve criticism. However, if they then play well or simply alright but still get criticised, that is scapegoating because they don't deserve it. Lallana doesn't deserve stick tonight, hence me pointing it out. However, if recall, I did say I hadn't read back so I don't actually know what you said about Lallana, I just knew that would be who you were talking about; aka scapegoating <laugh>

Thing is, I agree with you that Skrtel and Lallana amongst others aren't good enough and we should be looking to improve on them. I just don't like to see players get unfair and unjust criticism after a game. If you noticed, I never picked up on it after the Spurs game with Skrtel, i actually joined in the criticism of him because he was poor!
