I know what you mean but the flip side is we don't want to become totally reliant on him for goals, there is a distinct possibility that he may not be with us next year and it would be good to have others chipping in with goals ? nice problem to have though !
Interesting stat from the BBC "Watford kept their seventh clean sheet at home in the Premier League this season - only Manchester United (8) have more at home in 2015-16."
Thanks for the thread everyone. Couldn't follow last night, family an' stuff. Happy with the point, and looking forward to the HP highlights despite the lack of goals. Notice that only 6 teams have scored less than us- but only 5 teams have conceded less. This sort of defensive solidity would have probably saved us last time up in the prem. We have so much more quality this time.
I thought overall we played very well last night, with many excellent individual contributions and at times our passing and movement was sublime. But we seemed to tire in the last 15 minutes and had to chase the game to hold on. I think Jurado started very well and looked very dangerous, but faded and replacing him was a good decision. Ben Watson was awesome as was Capoue, but he looked completely knackered by the end. We are gradually improving and we seem to play better against the "better" teams - it's an old cliché, but we do seem to raise our game against them. It's going to be a real challenge on Saturday against The Spuds and I will be a bag of nerves come Saturday afternoon!
Who said the comment and the Pozzofication of our club? OFH - funny analysis that well found. Happy with a point, gald one wasn´t let in late on, well done HG. On a rather different note, QSF speaks English with the best stress timed rhythm for a native syllable timed language speaker but the man could do with a shave!!
I watched and could hardly believe just how good we looked especially in the first half. I have seen it mentioned over several games that we do seem to tire over the last 15-20 minutes. Looked as though Chelsea didn't suffer in the same way. Is it our style of play, training, or just that some players cannot manage a whole game?
It was great wasn't it? I think the tiredness is down to the style of play - especially for the midfield which I guess is why he's looked to increase numbers there. Deeney never fails to amaze me though - his work rate is staggering.
I see Hiddink is claiming Chelsea deserved to win. The stats and anyone else at the game would say a draw was the fair result. I thought it was a really entertaining game for a 0-0 and I was right behind the Gomes saves and cheered them like they were goals. So pleased to get a deserved point after missing out v Spurs and City. Onwards and upwards again!
I hate Costa , the sniffling little whiner.I'd like to turn him into a farmer .....a good kick in the balls and he can have a couple of acres.
He is our long term star . i would like to start a petition for him to be our player of the year come on guys & gal lets get behind him
An excellent first half with the confidence to keep and pass the ball in tight spaces. Perhaps the high work rate told towards the end when we looked a little vulnerable for the first time. While I didn't find it quite as exciting as some, there didn't seem to be many weak points in the team and the spirit and attitude was generally very good. Obnoxious as Costa is, other PL defenders have talked about the best way to deal with him...personally I find little to admire in Paredes' method and I'd rather not see any player writhing about unless they've taken a serious whack.
wonder if Pantillimon´s arrival has made Gomez put in even better performances! BTW he is 2m 03 cm tall! WTF!!!!
Though I was at the match--and thoroughly enjoyed it--highlights on t.v. do show what you miss in real time action. So Ighalo should have done better with his header, Oscar put wide the best chance of the night, Gomez was indeed "amazing" , and Paredes was embarrassing. It is very nice going into matches with more expectation than apprehension these days, though of course one cannot relax till we have at least two more wins. An "amazing" season . I am already looking forward to next season! But which of our current 17 overseas players will make way for the two currently on loan at Granada? .
It's such a shame. Paredes did ok last night but really let himself down. The worst thing is it allows Chelsea and Costa to occupy the moral high ground which is distasteful to put it mildly. To be clear though, I don't ever want to see that behaviour from a player of my team and I fully applaud Troy for his condemnation and QSF for his humanity.
I suspect that Paredes (and anybody else in the squad) will not do that again after Troy's "quiet" words. Did anyone else on here notice that from the video highlights Costa's header was going straight towards Gomes before taking a huge deflection of Deeney's (I think) shoulder? The save is then all the more creditable.
<agreed> But Costa had already been winding players up etc. Bad IMO that Hiddink is rushing to the defence of Costa and TD is seemingly supporting that. I think less of Hiddink after his outbursts...
