"old news" maybe. So the carlton cole deal fell through. Who is really bothered? Were you excited to have him at the club or not? I'm personally unsure, I think that he might have fitted in well, but maybe he's past his best?

Not for me, same old same old and nothing new to our front line. Plus he didnt want to play for us and thast fine by me, however I was dissapointed that TP has openly chased him for 3 transfer windows and then cant agree personal terms that apparently were within our wage structure?

    Jub,

Count me out too much money for too little talent.

If Stoke made no more signings this window, the fact that we didn't sign Cole would more than soften the blow.

Agree with Stokielad Crouch would be just what we need and hope TP can really push this deal through.

Crouch and Palacios would be fantastic signings, more than worth waiting for, just hope that Stoke can pull it off, fingers crossed...

I think I could see Crouch at the club in SOME respects. Its just will a player like Peter really come to the Potters? Sadly its all about money nowadays, he'll want to go to a bigger club that give him bigger wage packets.

But, if we do get him. He'll fit in, let's face it we've always gone for tall players. He scores frequently and I think would be a great asset to the team.

According to the BBC 'gossip' today the Cole deal could be resurrected by TP, and he is also interested in Crouch but Spurs want £9m. Also Sorro is a target for Citeh as back-up to Hart following Given's move to Villa

I wouldn't have minded Cole initially, but he clearly isn't overjoyed by the prospect of coming here. Time to move on, methinks.

I dont undastand this potential Sorro move to Citeh, he wants to play first team football????

Regarding Cole, completely agree with you Welsh, why should we sign a player who doesnt want to come to Stoke and would only be in it for the money.

If there was ever a play created for Stoke, it was Cole,he's big and strong in the air but
can actually play.your management team would have got the best out of him,i'd be happy if we kept him,FAT SAM could iron out his bad points and let him fire us back to the prem'.

Said this before. I don't care WHO they are if we ask, they have a look around etc. And still don't want to sign shove it!
I hope for West Ham's sake he does well this season, he didn't last time around. But Demba Ba did <doh>

Demba Ba for me was a serious error of judgement, especially when we sign the like of Woodgate! However, whats done is done, but I was never much for Cole and as Coates siad when interviewed, his fitness record isnt grfeat either! That Piquionne looks a far better bet for me and would give us more pace - something we desperatley need!

From what I've seen of Piquionne he looks a better player than Cole, but I've just done a little bit of reading about him, and he's only 5 in 34 for Pompey, and 6 in 34 for West Ham, not much better than Cole's record.

Wow, but then again West Ham didnt score goals full stop (Except against us) and werent Defoe and Crouch ahead of him at Pompey? Anyway those stats arent great either way so maybe not then!

Old Carlton Cole is good in the air but not on the floor
Tis said with a banjo and the proverbial barn door

He would miss with a regularity which would seem
He would be a valuable asset to our team

To make an omlette you must break eggs
    Otherwise you get the dregs

We have quite a few strikers with no nouse
Who could not score in a free whorehouse

Crouch and Defoe left about the same time Piquionne went to Portsmouth, not sure if there were any times they played together,
    Just had a look at Crouch's scoring record, and that's not as good as I'd have thought;
    ----------------- --- Apps (Goals)
    2005–2008 Liverpool 85 (22)
    2008–2009 Portsmouth 38 (11)
    2009– Tottenham Hotspur 72 (12)

    But then there's this stat:
    2005– England 42 (22)

    And Defoe:
    2008–2009 Portsmouth 30 (14)
    2009– Tottenham Hotspur 64 (25)

    2001–2003 England U21 23 (7)
    2004– England 46 (15)

Rafa fuked him over at Liverpool though and he has scored regular goals in Europe and at International level! I dont think he will come though and still believe we need pace not more size and strength.
