Yet more proof that sportsmen are completely out of touch with the real world and their fans - Ronnie O'Sullivan deliberately not going for a 147 break because the £12,000 prize "wasn't worthy" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/35581281 What a ****. I'm sure the fans who paid good money to watch an elite sportsman at the top of his game were thrilled he decided to give them all the finger. No I wouldn't, and neither would anyone else who lives in the real world, you utter ****ing bellend.
Sums up the riches these guys make and their disdain from relatively small rewards. Getting the perfect score was deliberately thrown away for the sake of money. Had it been one hundred thousand I bet he would/could have colluded with other players to leave the table open for this then half it. There is no basic honesty left in many sports now.
aye, there would have been people there who would have been absolutely thrilled to witness their first ever 147 in person.......then he does that????? i would have demanded my money back. Then I wonder if he actually considered whether somebody somewhere had put a bet on him getting a 147 in that match or tournament. If I'd have done I would send a strongly worded letter demanding he give me my 'winnings' out of his own pocket. I might be over reacting but I feel that he has brought the game into disrepute.
for me a sportsman should give his 100% effort all the time, regardless of the prize. not going for the best possible break is unforgivable imo.
the idiot could have claimed the 147 prize and given it to charity.....im sure 12K would have meant the world to someone.
Being the best always brings arrogance. It's part of being the best. I like him. He doesn't owe anybody anything and has openly said he doesn't like snooker but it's the only way he can make money. He certainly doesn't play it for the fans.
but wouldnt it be like Wayne Rooney claiming that he's not trying 100% because he's not getting paid enough in bonuses!? Wouldnt that be disrespectful to the paying public who contribute to his wages and luxury lifestyle? I certainly wouldnt pay money to watch O'Sullivan, especially now.
