Mark my words, this ruling will open the door to Governments taking out injunctions to block websites that challenge their agenda. Freedom of the Internet will soon be a thing of the past thanks to greedy media companies who make no effort to make legal content more available and affordable.

This is a sad day for the future of the Internet when technology designed to prevent the spread of child abuse is going to be used for something so trivial in comparison.

It's only a matter of time before they do. These media companies are on the warpath and they won't be satisfied until the Internet is destroyed

Totally agree, they gained control of the mass media to fool the public into believing their agenda but were caught unaware at the dawn of blogging and independent internet media. Too much for them to lose to allow the internet to continue as an uncontrolled media

On the other hand, people using these sites are simply thieves.

If you walked into HMV and took a DVD off the shelf and walked out without paying you would have no qualms about being arrested so why is downloading a film illegally acceptable?

if you were running a small, independent film company and people were downloading your movies without paying would you find it acceptable?

There's a difference between downloading DVD rips and shows recorded off the TV...

I can't see what the problem is with sharing shows that other people record off the telly, even in other countries. I don't download DVDs and cams of movies though, and I buy my music <ok>

Amazon downloads actually as I hate itunes. A lot of my music wasn't available legally so I had no choice in the matter. This is the problem I have, they come down on illegal downloads but do nothing about availability of legal downloads,

I'd be irritated for sure. How are you going to be able to recoup your budget plus more at the box office, if everyone has already seen the film for free?
