I'd hate to see the others then. I don't think Stek is prem standard personally, surely better to have a young understudy waiting his chance to step up?

That Newcastle lad who played at SMS was their third choice apparently. He was pretty good I thought.

Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted he is "not happy" at Man Utd after a slow start to his Old Trafford career.

The Frenchman has struggled to hold down a first-team spot in Louis Van Gaal's side since joining from Southampton in last year's summer transfer window and concedes he has not found it easy to adapt to life in Manchester.

"I've done as the group has: some good and some less good matches. But it is sure that at Manchester United, everything is different," Scheniderlin told L'Equipe. "A good match in Southampton can be viewed as bad in Manchester.

"When I signed for Manchester, I wanted to play every game, be performing all the time, so I'm not totally satisfied. I'm not unhappy, I'm not happy, I'm in the middle.

"But this is my first year, I am confident that I will return very, very strong next season."

Stek is fine. He doesn't make great saves but he doesn't make many obvious mistakes either. I'd say Vorm, Caballero, Ospina and Begovic are definitely better back up keepers, I don't know much about Man Utd's reserve keeper and the rest are all pretty average - mainly very old (Schwarzer, Given), perennial back ups (Elliot, Bunn, Bogdan) or unproven/unknown (Kristoffer Nordfelt is back up at Swansea?).

Darlow may have played well against us but that's just one game. Alan Blayney once won save of the season but he never really did much else. This is Darlow on debut earlier this season:

We could squeeze him in. Always room for a Schneiderlin......unless your trying to get his name on a juniors shirt........

I would be very, very happy to see Stek stay here next season as our number 2. But I'm not sure if he'll be too happy to stay and fulfil that role. (Fulham presumably wouldn't want him back on their wage bill).

You do love digging up these clips of players making mistakes; fact is, they prove nothing. Anyone can make a mistake, it's the moments of brilliance that set some players apart.

Not saying Darlow is brilliant btw. Just that, in an ideal world, I'd rather have a talented youngster as no2.

I believe we have a talented young keeper at the club already? He seems to be making real progress for the u21s

With the money Stek would be on, it would be insane to have him as a sub goalkeeper.

If we can get him on a reasonably priced 2 year contract I would be fine with that. To be honest having a 20 year old goalkeeper on the books doesn't interest me because a) he won't be replacing Forster and b) I don't think you can know much about how good a GK will be in the future at that age.

Oh and c) goalkeeper is the least important position.

Oh just unfathomable, brazen, preposterous levels of wrongness in this post right here.

It just proves the point that one game means very little. I know Newcastle fans were very worried about Darlow playing. The Lallana stuff was just a bit of silliness.

Fair enough if you want a talented youngster as number 2. Personally I wouldn't because I think sitting on a bench is bad for a keeper's development. Just off the top of my head if you look at Courtois, Hart, Butland and our own Fraser Forster they all developed or played as a youngster at clubs where they couldn't get in the first team so they went out on loan to play games and improve.

So (assuming we don't buy/develop a teenage keeper who's already better than Forster) I'd rather have a steady, experienced pair of hands as number 2. Someone who's seen it all and is ready to come onto the pitch in a crisis or play a run of games without any making any major **** ups. The talented youngster would be third choice and ideally sent out on loan to play first team football. I think that's where we've actually let down Gazzaniga slightly. Rather than playing u21s or sitting on our bench he'd have been much better served going and playing in a lower division.

Bit torn with Keiran Tierney, my Celtic supporting friend told me we were sniffing around and he has been by far their best player 2nd half of the season. Yet we have the England LB, the England U21 LB and as usual some good young LBs in the pipeline- is it being abit greedy?
