Well DK didn't hold back in the pre-race press conference, as Max Verstappen sat beside him with a somewhat smug face. The media showered the driver with questions about the public RB demotion. A confident DK said he was happy to go back to a team that loved him and that he has 17 races to prove himself again, and Sainz confirmed that his pairing with Verstappen caused rifts. So possibly this was a win-win situation. Hamilton disagreed with Marko's decision making to some extent stating that young drivers need the time to progress and learn. Whilst Alonso didn't realise that the drivers had swapped. Who is the pressure on the most out of the RedBull drivers? What an interesting scenario...
Verstappen, just because he has a better car. I expect them both to get beaten by their team mates. Fisichella got crushed when he switched from Force India to Ferrari mid-season. I'd love it if they both ended up a second off the pace, scoring no points.
Verstappen's the better driver in the better car. If he finishes he should be higher. Will Kvyat beat Sainz is the question I'm more interested in.
Apologies, Sportista; I see you've said the same thing. (Note to self: read all comments before trying to be funny…)
I'll be surprised if he does, by the look sof things Max is already closer to DR than Kvyat has been and Sainz wasn't too far from MV. I think the increase in available power is causing him problems
Yeah first thing I noticed in FP1 was Verstappen go a tenth quicker on the very first medium run. It caught my eye, don't think DK has ever made a statement like that so early in the weekend. But like I said, I am willing to wait it out to make my mind up on DK, and whether he deserved dropping.
He wasn't dropped, if he were he wouldn't be on the grid. I think people are looking at it the wrong way around, this is more about Verstappen deserving the promotion than Kvyat deserving demotion, at least that's the way I see it, and so far, in FP1 & FP2 he's proving them right. I like Kvyat, but MV catches the eye more. Sentiment is nice, but has no place in the highest echelons of professional sport.
