    What is the point?

Not many things more embarrassing than a proud Yorkshireman.

Fair enough being proud of where you came/come from, however it is merely a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'd rather be a yorkshireman than welsh or scottish.

Why not be proud if where I come from? Being from down south I presume you have a phobia of 'ooop north'? Are you just jealous that we choose to celebrate the fact we are from yorkshire whilst folk in Hampshire just sit there and curse the fact you aren't from gods own county

Its not that being from Yorkshire is a bad thing. It is just for many that the concept of being from Yorkshire wholly defines them.

Hampshire is my current location, I actually consider Scotch Corner to be down south. You kinda just demonstrated my point.

The point that we have pride in our heritage? Maybe you should take pride of where you're from rather than knocking those that choose to

Barnsley boy- A name is a name is a name is a name. 'A rose by any other name' so forth and so on.

Spireite- There is a difference between pride in where you're from and where you're from totally defining who you are.

Spot on. I'm welsh, but pretend to be english when i'm out. Just because i'm welsh, i don't let it define me.

Define is a very strong word, if I let the heritage of Yorkshire define me then i'd own a whippet, flat cap and drink mild. I'd also work down t'pit and say 'thy' & 'thee' alot. Would it come as a surprise that none of the above in anyway comes close to being me
