Been of the drink for 3 weeks... dying for a pint! Just had a case of red wine delivered as well. Planning to stay off it for at least another 5 weeks!!!! Any non drinkers out there or anybody else giving it up for a while?
Wouldn't do it Pud. It's a pleasure and there is not too many of those. As long as you can keep your job and family then I see no problem.
I'm surprised I've lasted so long George...usually weak willed! Been out in pubs with friends as well! It is a simple please Ciaran... I'll be back on it in 5 weeks.
I've not had a drink for 3 years since I stopped running pubs. Wasn't an alky when I left but I was coming close to one. Don't even miss it tbh, hardest part is going on a night out and supping pop all night
I have been out with friends and stayed sober as well and I vowed never again. Of course Enniskillen is ****e to go out in drunk never mind sober.
I've not drunk in a while till yesterday when I discovered Home & Away isn't on for the entire month Couple of Buds to relax and stem my anger
Like me years ago 7 nights a week with real heavy weekend sessions, i couldnt sleep unless i had at least 4 cans/pints inside me. Got sick **** of the same old routine and just stopped drinking except on the weekends, 8 years now of just weekend drinking and obviously 2 week piss ups in the summer holidays and i feel much better for it. Good luck with it
Yeah, sound like me since about 16! It does get a bit tedious and the hangovers just grow n grow! Cheers chief
Yes, I gave up drinking just under six years ago, Pud. Nightmare. I used to really love getting wrecked but found it a bit spooky that I sometimes couldn't remember anything the next day. (At least I now have perfect recall of all the soul-destroying bullshit I come out with - a double edged sword, for sure.) I reckon the first ten or so weeks were the hardest (probably the hardest thing I've ever done, actually), I just wanted to die. I miss it a lot, but it's no longer terminal and most days I barely give it a thought. If you get up to eight weeks will you not be tempted to take it further? Good luck, anyway, okay? It's a bloody hard thing you're doing.
Don't think I wil take it further but I hope to knock the mid week drinking on the head at least after it... and maybe cut back on the mad all day bevvy sessions! Cheers ****in cheers! I mean Thanks
3 years for me, total tea total, age 42, dont miss it, my obsessions are family and football, fishing,, (Dads Taxi), oh, and I love a punt, football only. drinks now - Relentless Libertus weekends, coffee, tea, and water, on weekdays, was fairly difficult to stop as I liked a pint, usual matchday steam drinking. I dont think I could have, or would have, stopped in my younger years. In those years I didnt have a nice Thursday Friday Sat Sun night armchair, and football match after football match to watch over the internet. Blueribbon keeping up keeping on
