Chinese Investors Buy French Soccer Club OGC Nice June 2016 French soccer club OGC Nice has been bought by a group of Chinese and American investors. The deal continues a recent trend of European sports acquisitions by Chinese corporations. The investors are Alex Zheng, president of Plateno hotels group, and Chien Lee, founder and CEO of NewCity Capital and Paul Conway of Pacific Media Group. Together they have acquired 80% of the club, with OGC Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere retaining 20%, the club said in a statement. China is an extremely fertile ground from a commercial point of view, especially as it awakens to the beauty of football,” said Rivere. “Their arrival secures the future of the club and will provide the additional resources for continuation of our vision. While keeping its identity and guidance, OGC Nice will gradually reach new heights. “Between the passion of its fans, its world-class stadium and future training center, the infrastructure is in place to achieve the management team’s vision.“ Pacific Media Group will also lead international sponsorship opportunities for the club.
Sky Sports News HQ @SkySportsNewsHQ BREAKING: New consortium in talks to buy @HullCity. #SSNHQ Sky are reporting that the Allams expect the club to be sold within the next six weeks, though they don't seem to know which consortium it will be to.
I think if he gets a gig with the new owners, he will be reminded weekly. That is IF we get new owners
You thought wrong then. I don't believe everything I read either or take every bit of gossip as gospel.
What version of history have you made up ?? When we were at BP we were locked out by David Lloyd.... The club at that time was rescued by Adam Perarson.....and Hull City Council by providing us with a nice shiny new stadium...... Bartlett & Duffen were to come years later buying the club from Pearson Bartlett & Duffen them mismanaged the club to the point of near administration......at which point the Allams bought the club "as a gift to the people of Hull" !! Under their stewardship they have doubled the level of debt the club had.......the only difference is that the monies are owed to them.....not the banks or the tax man
The US bidders never paid a deposit, the sale was pulled before Heads of Terms were signed. The Dai's aren't out of the running yet, I still think they're favourites to buy the club.
I was just starting to think that I might have been wrong about him and should perhaps revise my opinion of him, then I saw this.
Whenever I see the name Julian I think of this quote: "Ooh hello! I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy!"
Question is why are the Allams stalling on giving Phelan the managers job, which he is currently doing very well (& I assume still on his assistant managers salary, which is probably pissing him off big time) Either the Allams don't like him & don't want to give him the job or the prospective new owners don't want to give him the job & have another manager lined up ? Considering the results so far & senior members of the team saying give Phelan the job it would be crazy to unsettle the current team spirit by bringing a new man in.
Could well be, people take things on the Interweb at face value. It looks real ergo it must be real. please log in to view this image
It my not be the Allams stalling. They're talking to Phelan & his representatives but he may be playing hard ball knowing his stock is high?
