From the match report - "as Godfrey settled into a central defensive role" I said after the Newcastle defeat that we should have played Godfrey instead of Bassong!!!!!.
I think we'llsafely progress to the next stage of the EFL Under 23 Cup, though not sure if it's on a knockout basis or not. At least it should give some of the first team squad fringe players a chance to show AN what they can bring to the team.
Fantastic result tonight, pleasing that some fringe players got good minutes and plenty of goals. I was somewhat concerned that based on how easy we're finding our group, that the tournament might be dominated by academy sides, but thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case. Only ourselves and Leicester have already qualified, with Stoke, Blackburn, Derby facing an uphill struggle, and Middlesbrough, West Ham, WBA and Chelsea already out. I don't know how seriously those academy sides are taking it, but it's nice to see us towards the top of the pile for once.
Despite our negative comments in the past re AN hoping to create a 'dynasty' at Carrow Road, it does seem to be paying off and we still have Maddison demeonstrating his ample skills at Aberdeen in the SPL to join the party and IMO, 'the future's bright, the future's Yellow and Green!!' Our GD is fantastic -
Good on the younguns (And their senior colleagues) Another fine result, it seems the whole squad are pushing the starting XI hard for places. Hopefully we can beat Leeds and keep our cup runs going to give them all further chances to impress. Bah!
Dodgy tradesmen???? I have to agree that there is a real togetherness in the entire squad and we certainly seem to know where the back of the net is. It would be fantastic to beat Leeds and move on to the next round of the EFL cup, but hope we get a home draw next time.
