Self indulgent crap as far as I`m concerned.

I thought that accolade went to The Great British Bake Off, far better than the X rubbish.

Have watched both in my time. Good TV in its day but now a tired, clapped out, contrived formula that's well passed it's sell-by. Depends what you like I guess, and how easily entertained you are. ;)

Used to watch it in the beginning when it was a singing competition but when it became an "entertainment programme" dressed up as a singing competition I found it hard to watch. The producers decide who goes through to each stage based on public support through social media and the like. Judges are for show and talent comes a poor second to ratings!!

It's just mainstream entertainment, with mainstream music, for the mainstream masses.

I have worked on the X Factor live shows and also the auditions several times over the years. Let me tell you how shallow and produced these things are. On the live auditions, the audience gets in for free on a first come first served basis, and there are usually 2 sittings. A show in the morning, then another with a different audience in the afternoon. As the audience enters there are stewards guiding the audience in. Some get sent left, some get sent right. This is not to fill up the venue evenly, it's because the audience jib camera is on one side of the venue, thus only the audience opposite the camera get seen on tv. The decision to send left/right is loosely made on how attractive a person is. Generally, the more attractive people get sent to appear in camera shot, the less attractive are behind the camera and not seen. Of course the audience don't know this. It's sad really.

They should take that approach with the judges Stereo then they might all be behind the camera :)
The whole programme and set up is shallow and just fills Simon Cowbell's pockets
