Interesting comments seeping out from a meeting between Slade and the highly secretive East Kent Addicks on Thursday night. Some have found their way onto Facebook. 1. Slade claimed that Charlton conceded a record number of goals last season from dead balls and set pieces, due to the coaches (Luzon, Karel, Riga) not properly instructing the players on zonal marking or man to man . Incredible incompetence if true - and fans wonder why we were relegated from the Championship. 2. Meire supported him in keeping Fox and Lookman on deadline day. He speaks to Uncle Roland once a week on the phone. 3. Pearce is a "great leader" and Crofts is a "great influence and mentor" - no mention of either of them being good players. Lookman is a "super talent" [so play him then..] 4. The Club was a car crash off the field when he took over, with bad player vibes. Money has been spent on improving the players facilities and dress standards etc have been tightened up. 5. Slade believes we will finish in the Top 6 this season () Finally, asked about the fan's protests - and there hasn't been any yet - Slade said there was no doubt that it would have a detrimental effect on the players, as they would say to him "how are we expected to play through this?" I would like to have heard more from Slade on why he thinks the football has been so drab, negative and poor in the first 10 games.
Was a whole lot of nothing in truth. Even the dead ball point was glaringly obvious to all fans last season. At least he's allowed to be doing these events I suppose
He's making excuses for his players in advance of protests? Hardly what you'd call a winning mentality.
Slade's anticipated press conference after a poor performance at Gillingham on Saturday: "The lads were tired after a difficult midweek game - Port Vale is a tough place to go. In the circumstances today I was pleased that we were only 4-0 down at half time. Gillingham have been flying lately. I decided to take Holmes off and bring on Roger Johnson because I didn't want us to concede 10. The fans calling for my head at the end are a bunch of c*nts. They need to be patient"
Corrected for you "The fans calling for my head at the end are a bunch of c*nts. They need to Fu#k right off and support someone else"
So will Slade go down as Meire incompetence? I think for the most part we were all relatively cautiously optimistic to see him appointed; and the initial signings of Holmes, Ajose and Novak seemed positive - even if feedback from fans of Orient and Cardiff was mixed, it was implied that we had a solid manager. Surely the poor performances since are entirely attributable to Slade? It certainly seems that he has had control over incomings, and he has to take the responsibility for poor motivational skills and negative/inept tactics...
Slade said in the fans' meeting that if he didn't want a player then he wouldn't come in, so therefore he must have wanted Ajose and Botaka, who he now refuses to play. Now he's started attacking fans who paid good money to travel up to Port Vale to watch him snatch another draw from the jaws of victory. This can only end one way.
IMO, I still think that it's about 30% Slades fault and 70% Katrien and Rolands fault. Problem that we have is we have such a weak squad and a mediocre first XI. Regardless of who we bring off, it's going to bring the side down. Especially if we have players subbed like Holmes, or Lookman, or Magennis. I'd hate to think what would happen if they suffered injury. And it is Rolands fault, because remember; he don't like paying for players that are not playing...
Km knew she could control slade from the first time they met. Tan probably reinforced that statement. They were all too accepting to see him leave.
I am an honest man(unlike the stalker on the train), and I have to say the geezer can f*** off. May his next poo be a hedgehog
