.......... I came across a very good performance by Mannone which I'd previously missed.

Under the circumstances I thought he was brave and not afraid of shouting orders at the defence.

Even if Westwood's fit I'd expect him to start tomorrow and will be interested to see how he does.

I don't think Southampton will want extra time, or penalties, so they'll come with a '**** or bust' attitude* and Mannone will have plenty to do.

*Yes, I'm aware that isn't strictly a football term their manager will be using in his interviews, even if he could speak English.

I thought Mannone did ok last week but wasn't put under pressure by a crap Hull, but on previous viewing of him he looked like a rabbit in headlights.
If he does play he is going to need to be on top of his game.

I agree but I don't think you can make your mind up without seeing him now he's settled in.

Incidentally the local paper gave the Hull keeper MOTM against us with a SEVEN ............ :emoticon-0114-dull:

Mannone has helped his cause for me like, but I still get nightmares about his positioning against MK Dons.

Well Hull didn't exactly have our keeper under pressure. :)
Hope Mannone makes me a mug mate.
I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong about a player.
Dunno whether it's senility setting in, but struggling to remember the last time that was. <rofl>

I'm a bit daft me ......... so you'll have to excuse my naivety with certain things.

I want Mannone to be a great keeper, settle in and be a Sunderland legend for years to come ....... I remember the early criticism of Mignolet who many people said was poor.

But I get the feeling that some people, having declared Mannone indecisive and timid, would prefer to be proved right.

Perhaps I'm asking the wrong person as you seem better than most.

What I mean is, if I don't rate a player on first viewing I have a habit of more looking for faults than what he does right.
TBF I'm not the only one who does this.
If he changes my mind alls good. <ok>
    As it's good for SAFC.

Well, after all that I thought Mannone did OK.

We're now through to the 1/4 finals and not far from Wembley.

Chelsea are challenging for the title and in Europe so the league cup won't be a massive priority.

All we need now in Gordon Armstrong and we're flying <laugh>

When SAFC were in the FA cup final in 1973, a trophy which they won, against the biggest team in Yorkshire, there was Hull playing in the Watney cup, fair do's they got to the final, but lost.
