Well said! FML!! I was talking to a Coventry fan last night and he was telling me that they've got another promising youngster in their team - 'Coventry City skipper Michael Doyle admits he “loves” playing with teenager midfielder Tom Bayliss who he firmly believes if heading for the top. The Sky Blues captain has partnered the 18-year-old in recent weeks as the teenager has been preferred to the more experience Liam Kelly. Bayliss, who burst into the first team picture in December and has been in every starting line-up since, has already attracted the attention of a host of Premier League and Championship clubs and was the subject of a rejected bid from Derby County in the January transfer window. The teenager is contracted to the Sky Blues for another season, with a year's option in the club's favour which City will trigger to tie him down until 2020.'
They do bring them through. I really like Ben Stevenson, who I think Wolves signed in January. He is very much in the same mould as Madders.
So now it' gonna be Leicester for £17m rated Maddison. Ignoring that we should get more money than that. It could be a good move for him and us. A club that he will have a good chance of seeing game time, but also one for us to maybe get a wind fall along the line from a future sale to one of the bigboys Bah!
And Godfrey will probably go as well for no more than £1M and we'll keep 'sicknote' mark2 - aka Thompson!!!!
Yeah, GE, the figure has bounced around from £15m to £30m and everywhere in between. I personally like Farke's idea of £40m and be done with it.
In true NCFC stye i'm expecting it to be "undisclosed" followed by wildly different fan guesstimates from people in the know, quoting up-fronts, add-ons and sign-on bonuses meaning we'll never really know.
Ain't that the truth! Then what we all believe is subject to revision ie. Wildschut. The accepted figure for him was £7M until it was changed to £4M a year later.
IMO, that's more to do with press speculation (and exaggeration to make headlines). Obviously that's another downside of not revealing fees and wages. If Maddison leaves, how about bringing in another Maddison: "Marcus Maddison, Peterborough United – Again another Peterborough United star who deserves a chance in the Championship. The winger has made 117 appearances for The Posh scoring 29 goals. Maddison, who has the most assists in League One, has been a pain to League One defence for a number of years but will he get the chance to shine in the Championship for Norwich?" Even better if we sign Marriott as well! That and three other suggested signings, including Marriott, are from this: http://the72.co.uk/100571/five-players-norwich-city-sign-summer/ Maddison also sounds like an ideal replacement if Josh leaves: "He has an unbelievable talent, he wants to score goals and can score goals, with a magical left foot. On the other side, he works hard. Marcus is a match-winner and team player. He is also a freekick specialist. He describes his unusual freekick technique as use the side of your foot, but you're hitting it more with your heel. If you hit with the middle of the side of your foot it just curls. If you hit it the way I do, it goes straight and moves at the same time."
Interested clubs now reads: Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, Leicester, Saints, Brighton, Wolves... Anyone else been mentioned? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...l-among-chasing-pack-norwichs-james-maddison/
The Arsenal interest has been reported in the Metro, and they are claiming that they are favourites for his signature. JM would seem to be a very Wenger type target so I am surprised it has taken then so long to be linked.
I'm fairly sure Huddersfield were also said to be interested. I think we have to face up to the fact, there will be no way that he will be our player next season. He is grounded and seems a sensible lad, he wants to play because its best for his development, rather than bench warming, but he will with all the options likely to be presented to him be able to find a club that will pay him 10 times more and offer him a high probability of playing. Rightly a: Leicester, Saints, Everton or Brighton won't guarantee him a starting place, but will tell him how they envisage his roll and if he performs he will have a starting place, with his confidence he will fancy he is good enough to earn it. Another season in the championship he could see as consolidation, but more likely stagnation, his rise should continue and the PL is the next step. Bah!
If Farke/Webber allocate £10m of the proceeds from Maddison's sale to the first team, anybody got any other names to throw out there who you'd like to see join? Marcus Maddison looked like a good idea in the other thread. Any other positions you'd prioritise funding?
Whatever the eventual fee, it breaks my heart to think that as much of it will be ear-marked to pay the inflated wages of Naismith, Martin, McGovern, Jarvis and possibly Wildschut for another year as DF will get to take the current squad forward. That concept reduces me to p.s. new to this thread, not read all through, sorry if already been mentioned.
Quite so, but I'm not convinced the board are in it for the money. If they are, I could have given them some pointers! The Wild/Winkel/Naigood saga makes me weep, but I don't see that happening with the current set up. They may yet buy crap, but it won't be expensive / never gonna get rid of them crap.
