Second biggest in nothing though. I think we will be appealing if it’s approx £60 million debt to take over, thy means Short giving club away and wiping his portion of debt. As I’ve said in that scenario an investment of about £150million gives you a PL club and if you’ve got it ran right you get that back in 3 years in the Premier League. I wish I could talk to investors cos I tell you what, I could sell that club, I know I could.
Gate money isn't the only thing that you can make money on from a big supporter base. Its only a drop in the ocean comparatively but I'm always surprised at how bad the merchandise the club sells is. I was in the West Ham club shop with my in laws a while back and they sell a load of nice gear. Other clubs of similar size to us do the same. Our club shop has just had tat in it for years. Get that right and it's another potential revenue stream for an investor to tap in to. I'm surprised Short hasn't frankly, it's just another thing he's got wrong.
If you're talking about maximum gate thats around 46,000, but many of them are kids and many others pay their season ticket monthly because they don't have that sort of money to pay on one go. It's just not a feasible option mate.
Can you imagine - if a buyer came in today and took over, I reckon that's add a fair few thousand to the crowd tomorrow!! I love this club, but I hate this club at the minute, and that is something that makes me extremely unhappy! I NEVER thought that I'd get to that point as a SAFC fan!!
They can. But this is the North east of England mate, We don't have 50k Sunderland fans who have 1k to spare. We'd need extra cash too Beyond the purchase of the club, like writing off contracts and generating around 40m of transfer funds. Nice fairy tale idea and it's happening with non league clubs like Salford. But we're a massive club with with massive overheads, non goer unfortunately.
Links with the Virgin Group popping up. Unreliable sources but they did try and bid for Norwich it’s not impossible. Right colours as well of course, and Branson could see a ripe for the picking venture akin to when he bought Braun F1. Seems unlikely but I like the fella and would be well on board! I worked for him for several years and the business was beautifully ran.
Been a long time but felt the need to post to this.. What was Ellis's investment when he first bought in? Why did he want full control? For me he was after a quick few bucks and sell on from there. He has totally ****ed up Safc, I don't give a **** about published figures, he has covered himself. So he heads off back to the USA and has fallen out of love with football? He never loved football or Sunderland or Japanese, Indonesian banks that he was investigated over. The man was sold a profit on a golf course, he said yeah and hero said thanks..$$$$$$$$$$$$ was his only interest and I do believe after heading back to the USA that he would be prepared to kill our club..
av got a semi on just thinking about it. A damn sight better than we could dare hope for and cheap train travel to the Laaandaaaan games. Yeehaw.
@Hefty fullback Hi mate. With what's been going on after the shooting at that high school in Florida, and after Trumps comments and suggestions, do you mind if I ask you where you stand on this issue? Do you think arming teachers will sort your problems? If you'd rather not comment that's cool mate. I'm just interested in hearing the guy on the street's point of view.
