My mates messaged me, Alan Nixon is reporting we will have 60m to spend in the championship
That a big amount if we get there, hopefully spend it wisely
Can’t see it.
To be fair to Nixon, he seems to get info on us
Should get a few top players
Even if it’s not true, it’s refreshing to at least read this type of stuff again after years of doom and gloom
It’s about right, a top Championship player is gonna cost half of the nowadays if going Prem (Watkins etc..).
The first thing is to stay in that league, I’m not expecting a promotion push first year up.
The Owner will definitely want us to be competitive at that level and will know that we’d struggle with the current squad. Substantial Player investment will be required to achieve the Owner’s goals and he knows it.
If they follow the sustainable approach then £60m invested in players that are sold for £200m is the way to go, get stuck into that data analysis lads!
Why not? Please give us your reasoned explanation as to why our multi-billionaire owner won’t spend 3% of his wealth to give us the best chance of progressing up the leagues.
Not sure KLD will agree that consolidation is the best plan. He will want to set us up to succeed as soon as possible. They won’t come out and state it but that will always be the aim. I think he means business like no Sunderland owner in history has meant business.
Echo reporting it now
I always worry when things like this come out in the middle of a promotion race. The fact is, half of these lads know they will be shown the door in the summer if there’s any truth in this so it could potentially have a negative effect. Hope I’m wrong like.
Or the players see an opportunity to progress & earn an improved contract. You get some stick on here mind which sometimes is unjustified but your not helping yourself with comments like this. Chill out and enjoy the ride mate
As long as we are looking at youth I will be happy.
Other than that. It's his club and his moneu, he can do just about whatever the **** he wants or deems necessary.
I trust him for some reason.
I'm sure Johnson will be able to keep them concentrating on the task in hand but yeah it's not the best timing. I never think it's a good idea for it to be widely known how much cash you have to spend if it's a big amount.
Still, exciting for the fans to think about and as I say Johnson will keep the lads focused.
I believe every player has been told he has a chance in the Championship, if we get there. It looks to me like they all believe it as well.
I understand but don't think the contract lads should worry too much other than Maguire of the top of my head who for me is clearly not getting retained. The others will be retained I reckon and the 60 million if true would go on replacing our loan players, and Maguire. We have to remember we are thread bare in terms of permanent full backs too.
Pure speculation. The journos haven’t a clue, but, if they say that they will sell no copy. Stick an arbitrary number in gets people reading, talking, speculating themselves..... hey ho, job done.
