The Sun have to be guessing or making up this story. Surely a claim for damages have to reasonably reflect what Hull City have financially lost as a result of Jake's indiscretion. 8 million seems absurd. How much did he have left on his contract ?
He cost us £8m and a two year ban would take us to the end of his contract, leaving us unable to recover any of that fee, hence we're £8m out of pocket. Obviously he hasn't got £8m, we'll be lucky if we actually got £800k, unless he's forced to pay it out of future earnings, as has been suggested. The A test was reportedly low, if the B test passed then I'd expect the whole thing to be dropped, but if had been, I'd expect us to know by now.
I just checked and Aaron McCarey and Jose Baxter both have FA hearings next week, but both face bans of six months or less, as they tested positive out of competition.
As he was never worth £8mil in the first place I doubt they could ever prove that they had lost £8mil - perhaps Allam should sue Brucie or Ehab if he did the deal for the difference
Is that the same for performance henancing drugs and so called "social" drugs? I appreciate both are illegal, however we should freeze Livermore's contract, his poor form last season could well be associated with his habbits, and when clean could well be back to whats expected..
I understand all that OLM. I'd have thought that clubs would have some sort of insurance policy to cover such "rare" situations, just as they presumably have for potential injuries curtailing a players ability to play. If not, they should have, unless insurance companies have exclusion clauses for e.g. suicide, criminal charges leading to imprisonment, accidental death through criminal activity etc etc. On the salaries these players earn nowadays, they should be paying the premiums for such policies perhaps. At worst, dismissal & termination of contract should be imposed with a stipulation that a ban should be invoked for the period the governing body has in place. Jake's career may well be finished - he'll have lost a lot already. Did they not get 1 year of service out of his contract ? 8 million seems excessive. What would he be worth at the end of this season had he not transgressed ? Complicated business I agree.
That its all taking so long for all those testing positive at the same time could suggest contaminated samples . I don't think Mutu has paid anything back to Chelsea has he .. Tho he did leave the country
Here's what i found on the Mutu situation. Appears its still ongoing over 10 years later. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24587804 http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/421323/Adrian-Mutu-Chelsea-cash
There will be some sort of exclusion in the insurance policies, they won't have to pay out if the insured person has taken drugs. Much the same as your car insurance becoming invalid should you drive under the influence of drink or drugs.
