It's quite amusing that Atletico's captain is a former Chelsea reject, it just goes to show why Diego Simeone is the best manager in the world, he has completely outfoxed Mourinho with weaker players. He's also done the same in La Liga, his side aren't as strong as Madrid and Barca , but he's made it look like they are

 

I won't deny that I wanted Athletico Madrid to win - but what pleased me most was the fact that the Chelsea defence - particularly Terry & Cole were so poor at critical times - the 'defending for the equaliser & the third goal was shambolic. These events do not bode well for the national side if the aforementioned players are chosen for the England team.

On another day it could've been us in the final. Just needed one of the chances we had (JT and Luiz) to gone in and we'd have had a great chance. Both at crucial times but neither happened! I also think we'd have done it had we gone in at HT 1-0 up but it wasn't to be.

They're a good side and a mile better than anybody else i've seen us play this season. Well drilled with that clinical edge up front, something which we still lack unfortunately. They certainly won't be a "one season wonder" they look the real deal to me, manager and team. Sometimes you just get beaten by a better side and that happened last night IMO.

As for us, next season we'll be better off. Even just with Matic in our squad it will improve our chances but with 2-3 key signings we can give it a good go next season too. I'll be honest i didn't really expect us to get as far as the last 4 this season so i'd say we've done pretty well. The only disappointing thing this season has been the domestic cups. I think last 4 in the ECL and still in with a shout of the title with 2 games to go has been a pretty productive season and i've no doubt we'll be improving on this next year!

 

Completely agree, get a decent striker(s) and one more Matic type or even a full season of Matic and we can dominate the Prem from matchday one.

In CL, you need to take your chances. Terry and Luiz did not quite take theirs. Both were close

Chelski got a really easy draw in the CL all the way through, but you lost to the first decent team you had to play and they were arguably the worst team left that you could have drawn at this stage. Jose's negative tactics cant work all the time.

 

PSG are a good side, better than us probably. They did not roll over 6-0

PSG are a quality side and would have battered Arsenal over 2 legs.

They have plenty of potential or already world class players. Arsenal have none (Ozil maybe if he gets his form back).

Parking the bus and getting a breakaway goal to win a match has succeeded in Italy for donkey's years and Mourinho has also followed suit. A very good reliable goal scorer like Zola can make you look pretty good while playing boring defensive games.Ask Arsenal.Heaven help us if all PL teams played that way.
