I believe it may be a personal highest score for OLM, at least over the last 4 years. JohnXAberdeen scored 19 points earlier this season, the highest I've seen.
SEASON ’16-’17 FINAL WINNERS & OTHER MUNDANE STATS. Acknowledgements. Thanks to those who created sets of fixtures over the season, but especially Duffens_Briefs and Sir Cheshire Ben who were regular contributors. They both acted as auditors of the accuracy of the submitted fixtures, which helped a lot in preventing potential confusion. The rest of you were essentially lazy buggers in the main. Thanks to all who participated by submitting their predictions on a regular basis, and I have to concede there were very few “spoilt” entries over the season, certainly far fewer than the errors reported by yours truly in publishing the weekly results. Thanks for your patience on that front. Miscellaneous Stats. An average of 28.6 punters per round submitted roughly 11,725 match predictions, giving an average of 6.51 points per person per round. That’s a paltry 21.7 % of the 30 available points per round. The highest average weekly score achieved was 10.31 (Rnd 16 – 29 punters), the lowest was 3.62 (Rnd 38- 23 punters). 26 punters submitted predictions 30 times or more, 21 made it 39 times or more and 15 stalwarts manage to submit predictions for the complete set of 41 rounds. Obsessive/compulsive bastards they are. The 2-1 & 1-2 myth: Out of 410 possible fixtures, the score 2-1 or 1-2 occurred 62 times. That’s just over 15 %, which equates to 4.5 points should a punter be lucky enough to pick the correct scores. Given the season average was 6.5 points/man-week played, picking said scores may well have been a contributor – in your dreams I say ! The Important Stuff – The Winners. Please refer to the attached consolidated table below to view complete stats for all punters who have played at least 8 rounds in the last 15 weeks. The whole table is sorted by the total points category for ease of presentation. Winners etc of other categories are highlighted by colour-coded cells. Saves me a bunch of time doing it this way. I hope the table is easily readable on all platforms used by you lot. A. Total Points This category went right down to the wire, with roughly 8-10 players in with a chance with 6 rounds or so to go. In the last 5 rounds, the lead changed hands 3 times – PhilHul, PoolTiger & Sir Cheshire Ben fighting to the death. Ever the tactician, our “Marathon Man” – aka Sir Cheshire Ben – opted for a warm weather training camp in the Canaries with 3 rounds to go. It paid dividends – he took over the lead from joint leaders PhilHul & PoolTiger after round 39 and held on to win the big title. Congratulations to “It aint no sprint, it’s a marathon” Sir Cheshire Ben . Top 3 were: 1st : Sir Cheshire Ben…...306 2nd : PoolTiger……………304 (highest pts/round of 7.60) 3rd : PhilHul……………….296 B. Weekly Wins. This category never really ever seemed in doubt after OLM amassed 4 wins in a purple patch between Bonfire night and 14th December…capping off the season with a 17 point score the day Spurs tonked City 7-1. Congratulations to Sir Cheshire Ben and the category winners. A big congratulations to you, tigerscanada, for another excellent season of fun. Your format works superbly well on android phone and iPhone Looking forward to: And here we go again ... ... are you ? Keep well and thanks, mate .
Excellent work TC. Thank you for your remarkable effort it's made playing the game enjoyable. Congratulations to all! Stay well!
Just wanted to add my thanks TC .. top effort and a lot of hard work for others to enjoy .. We'll done to all the winners .. but as they say it's the taking part that counts and the work of TC makes it possible.
Thanks for everything you've done this season, TC. It's an incredible amount of work and I appreciate it greatly. It's the first time I've taken part. The only downside was my inability to remember to fill in the predictions some weeks! I blame being in the BBC Predictor league. I often did one but not the other! I'm looking forward to next season on this more than I am to the football!
Cheers Tigger You had a pretty good 1st season's set of results. With your average score and a full set of predictions, your hopes should be high for next season. The average scores this season collectively indicated an upward trend.
As a result of me not achieving a podium finish this year, I'm leaving this board and from now on I'll only be posting on the Mackems board under the name OriginalLambrettaRoo... Great work TC
Wow, a lot of work going in there TC. Well done. Well done to Sir Cheshire Ben too for winning overall. I was shocked to see me in there with an 18 point week. I have to admit I got a bit sidetracked towards the end of the season & forgot to do it due to work & house stuff. Hopefully it'll be a better year next year.
Nice work TC and thanks for your acknowledgement. Congrats to all winners especially SCB.. Looks as if Pool missing 1 week cost him the crown... Roll on 17/18.. Note to self: You must do better
