Down in Devon at the moment, stopped in a pub earlier for some grub and low and behold they had the game on. Was a very decent match, both teams had chances. Echoing what RDBD said, Skipp was commanding, can see why he's highly rated and Oakley-Boothe has some real class about him, reminds of a young, raw Dembele with his moments. Bennetts delivered a beauty of a cross in the first half into Sterling but his header was saved. Bennett's goal, as you've all now seen, was top drawer.
I see Arsenal youth players are shaping up well for the full team....... they defend just like their first team counter-parts. Also their number 7 was shaping up nicely ti fill in for Sanchez now he has gone. Some great standing listlessly on the halfway line and flapping his arms around while Griffiths(?) won the ball from his teammate and strolled up field.
Reo Griffiths hitting hattricks like it's nothing now, second one in as many weeks. Lad's on fire this season.
Denzeyi got a 2nd yellow after 37 minutes with the score at 0-0. Griffiths scored one before the break and another two after it. Bennett got the other, as it finished 4-0.
The second Reo Griffiths hat trick in a week. ESPN are going to ramp up the speculation about him heading to Taurine FC Leipzig accordingly...
They defend in their own half (everyone behind the ball) , and do a fast en-masse aggressive press if the ball goes behind the opposition back four.
Second yellow right at the end for George Marsh for clattering the GK in the box. 2-0 to Porto. As with the seniors, so with the kids. What has to be taught/drilled in order to overcome busparquet ??
Less a problem with busparquet, more how all of our youth teams have been defensively weak this season. That's been the issue with our academy for the past five years (or, to put it another way, since the Caulker/Smith/Ball class of 2010-12 graduated) is how we've produced so many technically-gifted midfielders in a short space of time (i.e. Carroll, Bentaleb, Pritchard, Winks, Azzaoui, Onomah, Edwards, Shashoua, Duncan, Skipp, Roles, TO-B) but the only notable defenders are Veljkovic (who buggered off to Werder Bremen anyway) and KWP.
Eyoma again looks a real prospect in defence. Never gets flustered and reads the game superbly. Skipp had a first half to forget but it happens, the impressive thing is he never hid and demanded the ball afterwards. Really hope he makes the grade at Spurs.
Wasn't much between the teams except conceding from a corner and a horrible mistake. I was worried before KO as their players looked alot bigger and stronger . Interestingly Poch was in the stand for the first half but didn't hang around for the second- unless he watched on T.V. None of the players showed the ability to be stepping up this season. The opposition was at a level where the players were tested and they fell short.
I've seen some people talking up Jonathan Dinzeyi and Japhet Tanganga this season, although how much of that is down to their ability to spell their names at the first time of asking is subject to interpretation ...says the person who can spell Shashoua's name correctly without even having to think about it.
