The Europa League winners play inferior opposition for the most part than clubs in the Champions League but are rewarded with a group place in the Champions League the following season, while clubs attempting qualification through league placing's have to navigate a 38 game season.

Looking good for Arsenal, in with a great chance of winning the EL and a chance(slim maybe)of finishing in the top 4.<grr>

There are plenty of teams in the EL good enough to beat Arsenal.
Still got, A.Madrid, Dortmund, Milan, Bilbao, Napoli who are at the very least on par with Arsenal. Not to mention a host of others who are good enough to beat Arsenal on an off day (which Arsenal are very prone to having when it really matters)

Yeah, I agree, but my point was kinda that Man U and this season Arsenal had/have two chances to qualify for this season/next season despite finishing outside the top 4(assuming Arsenal do), of course the winners of the CL qualify by right but it's daft that the secondary cup winners get the same reward in qualifying terms.

look the europa was broken and nobody was bothered due to ****e moeny involved for tv. this is purely a nod to the clubs dropping into it to give them a reason to actually try as frankly.. nd biggest issue for me is there is extra round piled into this comp ..last 32 and it kills.

Problem was that clubs stopped giving a **** about the EL so they had to give something at the end of it to make clubs actually want to win it.
Although its only when it gets to KO rounds that its actually taken seriously by teams, up until then its just a maybe.

But would we be saying this had we actually managed to beat Sevilla and got that same reward?

tbh had we got a tought cl group i was hoping for third in group and take this route and actually get to cl again. I can tell you if we had it open to us per season before last i would not be complaining.

we were not complaining when in 7th and in europa final

But if we'd have won it and finished 7th we'd have won it and finished 7th and not qualified for the CL because the rule change came in the following season.:emoticon-0105-wink:

So you were hoping for 6th in the PL, 3rd in the CL group, and for the Mancs to finish 2nd

I #calledit top 3 in the PL, top of CL group, and finish above the Mancs

I'm not saying one of us is a better supporter than the other <whistle> but one of us is certainly right more often

I see our match report has vanished from the BBC front page after less than 24 hours, yet Ronaldo still features despite him not being British or playing for a British club, oh and not paying the BBC license fee.<grr>

Man U stories and articles tend to linger for days on the front page.<laugh>

Wasn't even that good. Penalty and a fluke off the knee goal. Didn't do much else.

He had outscored 117 of the 137 teams to have ever competed in the CL though :bandit:

if we are being honest about it, if he was our ex player we'd sing his praises with what he's achieved. It's because he's a manc that we try to downplay his achievements.

Bit of a sweeping statement mate, we don't all play down his achievements. I just think he's a actually **** rather than a Suarez type ****.

I don't think you can downplay his achievements, but I do think you have to recognise he is an odious, arrogant tosser <ok>

Suarez handballed on the line because his team might go through even though he wouldn't

Ronaldo watched his team go out because he wanted to take the last penalty with the cameras on him

Probably was a bit of a sweeping statement and I shouldn't have made such a generalised comment.

I'm no fan of ronaldo but ronaldo is/has:

    1. far better than suarez
    2. won far more than suarez
    3. done more for charity than suarez
    4. hasn't deliberately screwed over both his clubs for a move

    <ok>
