Lewis dominated the weekend on home soil, whilst Valtteri fought back valiantly to join him on the podium. Both Ferrari drivers hit similar troubles in extraordinary circumstances, as their front left tyres gave up in the final laps, forcing pit-stops. Redbull, Force India and Nico Hulkenberg had a better day out. Vandoorne missed out on a valuable point, whilst Alonso parked up with a familiar DNF. Toro Rosso continue their downward spiral, contact on lap one seemingly ended their weekend. The championship hangs in the balance, as 1 point separates Sebastian and Lewis. *News that the halo device will be introduced and implemented in 2018* please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image TV TIMES (BST): FP1 28/7/17 - 9am FP2 28/7/17 - 1pm SP3 29/7/17 - 10am Q 29/7/17 - 1pm R 30/7/17 - 1pm TYRES ALLOCATED: Super-Soft Soft Medium 2017 Predictions Championship x5 El_Bando dell-boy x4 BigErn eddie_squidd x3 happyal Smithers BrightLampShade DHCanary Julius Caesar moreinjuredthanowen ErnieBecclestone SgtBhaji fevriul St. Slicks of Stoneham x2 tomcat606 ched999uk x1 tomcat606 dhel McFerrari discostu333 Number1jasper RockyBlueArmy
It's a favourite track of Hamilton's but the Ferraris should go well here. Red Bull is waiting in the wings not far off either. It could be a cracker but it could also be two by two.
Hamilton likes the circuit but he and Bottas are likely to find it more difficult to set up their cars than drivers of Ferrari and Red Bull. On paper at least, this is likely to be a good candidate for the best strategic battle of the season. All three top teams are likely to be in with a genuine shout. The circuit is the most technical of all and as such tends to reward a good chassis more than a good engine - as well as rewarding drivers who get into an early rhythm. Ferrari and Red Bull have an opportunity to overcome the (slight - especially in Ferrari's case) Mercedes power advantage, if it still exists. It's very close, especially with Ferrari but Mercedes latest update suggests to me they are still slightly ahead in terms of outright power. Temperatures are likely to be high; another factor which tends to reward a compliant chassis - which in turn tends to be less demanding upon tyres. Free Practice is likely to be very interesting, and potentially more significant than some venues. Getting a good balance early on will pay dividends. Hungaroring is a fascinating place. Its technical nature rewards not only a compliant chassis but also the most dedicated of drivers. Currently, F1 is pretty rich is both regards - and for purists who see beyond the aesthetics of crowd pleasing overtaking, this circuit holds a subtle interest precisely because it is not all about on track overtaking! Strategic thinking is paramount. In a sense, an F1 race at this venue is as much a compacted endurance race as it is a game of chess. At this stage, there is no obvious winner.
Definitely a 3 way fight this one amongst the top teams. I think Ferrari will edge it. Mercedes longer wheelbase may not like the tighter curves here, though Hungary is not the 'slow' track it once was. McLaren will have a chance of top 10.
I think the scoring should change. 2pts if you make your prediction before FP1 starts and you get it right, 1pt for a prediction thereafter.
Oh god, not another controversial double points rule! And changing rules halfway through the season. Are you the FIA?
Sorry , I thought someone said you had until the race starts . My Error , when is the latest I can vote please ?
This poll will close on Jul 28, 2017 at 10:51 PM. Usually I set it to close after qualifying, this time I thought I'd make it a bit less predictable seen as though the title battle is hotting up at the same time.
I really want Vettel to win this, not only to get him back on track, but also I think it will add a little more spice and keep it interesting.
The teams get their ever shrinking summer holidays after this race so hopefully we don't get a win for one of them and a dnf for the other. Ideally we want them both down the order, maybe 4th and 5th, keep things close.
