Mercedes strategy wise did a better job then Red Bull in the race, hopefully they be better in next races when Perez is hopefully in the mix to
Regardless of strategy, Max had more than enough laps, and the speed to catch and pass Hamilton, yet somehow managed to not pull it off. Baffling really.
Before that incident, Verstappen had cruised up to the back of Hamilton with such steady intent that he seemed sure to be able to pass again. The reason he failed to do so is that just after letting Hamilton back past him on the back straight, Verstappen had a big snap of oversteer in Turn 13, which overheated his tyres. "From then onwards, I just didn't have the tyres to attack," Verstappen said. "The tyres were 10 or 11 laps younger [than Hamilton's] but that advantage goes away when you get within 1.5 seconds, and the wind and its direction were not helping. "I tried again but I just didn't have the grip any more."
What happened to the guy who on his return to F1 stated he was "better" than the rest. OH yea there he is 19th DNF

To avoid any such problems this year, the FIA have cancelled the grand prix along the canal path near where you live.
Totally Agree with Chandok when he says Hamilton won that race for Mercedes. Max should not feel to bad as Lewis did the same thing to Rosberg on this very track in 2014. Lewis's epicness just keeps on going from being the only rookie to finish above a reigning double world champion to now beating Max while in a slower car. Still the only driver on the grid to have won in evry season he has raced.
He made it difficult, bits of traffic played in to his hands a little, but beyond that, there wasn't a ton he could do. Think had Max picked his spot a little better, it would have been a simple DRS fly by.
I think you will find it was the tyre strategy that won the day. I thought the middle stint changing to hards was crazy but it played out pretty well. Get in front and stay in front.... be interesting to see the response in following races. Although the Mercedes is slightly slower. It is slight.... ....just like him beating a 2 time world champion
Will Buxton I think. Touch controversial it coming from F1's own reporter. Think Will "explaining" it didn't go too well either. Nikita Hazaspin is my new favourite nickname.
Lewis's ability in massaging those hard tyres was the main reason. He is the ultimate omni driver. He may not be as quick over 1 lap as he once was but is still quick all the same. 11 laps older tyers and up against an RB16 which is the class of the field driven by speedster Max who destroyed Ricciardo in 2018 identical macmachinery. We truly saw a master at work yesterday. Intra-team battle at Mercedes from 2013 - 16 was 3-1 to you know who.
