A lesson in what happens when you have a coach reliant on a system, yet that system loses a key component Once we lost Bentancur and Bissouma at roughly the same time, Conte's system was exposed as relying on one player to break teams down through the center, while also exposing (once again) our midfield has been unable to handle being pressed for 4-5 years Exacerbated by some components being run into the ground every single match, while others barely got a look-in so never seemed quite up to speed when they did get drafted in
1. General Without seeing a single Spurs game this season and going solely on the significant KPIs very common for a PL team that finishes in the top 4, Spurs only had one to show : - 20+ goals from a player : 30 (Kane) 2. Season compass Like for like with 2021-22 : Pts = -11, GF = -1, GA = +23. ELEVEN pts worse. Conceded TWENTY THREE goals more. 3. Style of play Defending far too deep (thus inviting pressure) . Little to no control in CM. Very little fluid/creative drive in MF, badly shown by events post Bentancur injury.
Cups : League Cup : R3. FA cup : R5. A non-show in the League cup, and the same complacency in the FA cup as the season before. At best you could put it down to disdain Conte has for domestic cup competitions, at worst tis "same old Spurs" .
UEFA land : CL round of 16. The group stage was not well managed at all, and Spurs were very fortunate indeed to end up top of the group. The games against AC Milan were terrible to watch. To lose 1-0 on aggregate against a team that had few threatening attempts on goal nor were forced to work hard in defence, said it all.
An utter car crash. Knocked out of domestic cups by weaker sides, one a division below us (at the time!). Knocked out of the CL with one of the limpest displays imaginable. More awful recruitment, epitomised by a £60m pigeon who managed just one league goal. We’ll have almost no chance of selling him in the summer either unless we take about £25m-£30m loss. Some of the worst football we’ve seen in the last 20 years which was bailed out by the brilliance of our superstar who’ll probably want out of this mess of a club in the summer and not a single Spurs fan would blame him nor wish him any ill will should he leave. COYS, Daniel.
I ignore problems with the NHS and never seek its improvement because when times are tough, I simple think back to the Bubonic Plague and good heavens I feel grateful for the 7 hour wait at A&E.
That’s when we finish 4th when we finish 5/6th or below, then it’s ‘don’t forget the bad old days pre ENIC’
That isn't quite my point. We are in our best ever run in league finishes....14 consecutive seasons without finishing below 8th. The NHS would be overjoyed with such performance as would any other organisation or sports team.
Looking back, it's interesting to see when Conte lost the goodwill of everyone He lost the fans after the Sheffield United match He lost the board after the Milan match(es) He lost the players after the Southampton match This was all in the space of three weeks IIRC Can anybody confirm or deny if a drunken old crone suggested to Conte that he'd become Thane of Cawdor this season...?
No offence, but are you related to Lewis or Levy? To be so staunch in your support of ENIC you must have something to lose if they leave, are you a shareholder, will you lose free tickets, free lunch or other privileges? It`s all very strange, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is going nowhere under these owners, yet you are desperate for them to stick around.
To be crowing about being on average the 8th best NHS for 14 consecutive years, would speak volumes to me about the people doing the crowing.
