I know it was said after the group games , but this has been a great world cup so far, purely from a football perspective. Very entertaining stuff.
The Dutch tactics were all wrong in the extra time, never put any crosses in, never won a corner, in fact never got down either wing at all even though they were capable of winning everything in the air, and had the game won at the end of normal time. Yet they reverted to the plan that had them 2 down and dead and buried before the late changes. Argentina are a disgrace to sportsmanship, but even they were outshone by this referee. Once it got to penalties there was only going to be one winner, but tonight it was an ugly win. I have always loved football and South American football in particular, but this World Cup has dented my enthusiasm somewhat. the Dutch threw that game away when it was there for the taking Van Gaal should retire gracefully imo.
Depends if it in Europe or not iirc. Same as Nou Camp or Camp Nou. There is something that triggers it but I can't remember what it is.
Googled this fekker a few weeks back. Holland is a subset of Netherlands, bit like saying England is London.
They changed it because they thought it might remind people of Holland & Barrett ... ... and could make them associate the country with lots of drug taking.
Exactly, you cant pick and choose in that situation. Maybe only up to pen 3 anyway but Neymar hid like a child. World's best........my arse.
At what point do Croatia get considered as a top footballing nation? I feel like they usually get grouped in that European tier 3 with Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland etc. but they really should be considered peers to England, Portugal and Netherlands. Do they have to win a tournament to be considered in that company? Is a Euros win in the 80's more relevant than a world cup finalist and semi finalist in the last 2 tournaments? Croatia have beaten Brazil, Argentina and England in the last 2 World Cups, they beat the French in the most recent Nation's League to qualify for the finals and since their independence in 1998, they have favourable records against Argentina, Belgium, Germany and Italy (who they've never lost to in 8 matches). Despite that pedigree they were 8/1 to win the game today and 66/1 to win the tournament before it began. To put that into context, Uruguay were 50/1. Just musings really but it feels like they get seriously underestimated so often.
Annoying as **** isn’t it! If a Netherlands player did the same it’d be “he should’ve hitting the target there”. Hate listening to them when Messi plays. Undoubted talent that he is, he just doesn’t have the legs any more. And, like you says earlier, the commentator almost coming in his pants for a first touch we saw often in league 1!
The ref gave everything to them At least he got something right - the ref was useless please log in to view this image
How can he stand there and say that , this ref needs to be investigated to see who gave what to whom. I hate these cheating b*******s, and in case anyone hasn't guessed I am not talking about Holland.
Should of done what I did mate, never watched a single minute and if England get kicked out tonight I will laugh my nuts off
