3 mistakes Bristol City have already made during the January transfer window January is a busy time for clubs up and down the country, and the same will be said for Championship side Bristol City as they look to secure their transfer targets. Manager Lee Johnson and his recruitment team at Ashton Gate will be desperately hoping that no mistakes are made during this window as they attempt to put the finishing touches on a squad that could be capable of challenging for a playoff spot. While the transfer activity has been slim at Ashton Gate so far this month, here are three mistakes that Bristol City have already made during the January transfer window… Bristol City have been dealt a blow in their transfer plans as they have seen themselves miss out on Rhian Brewster, who chose to join Swansea City, and Eddie Nketiah, who Arsenal have decided to keep at The Emirates Stadium for the second half of the season. The Robins will be upset that they have missed out on their transfer targets, and will be hoping that it won’t happen again but now they will have to look elsewhere for the goalscorer they want to help lead their line. Lee Johnson will be wanting his recruitment team to fight harder and be more persuasive to try and get their other targets off the line and through the door at Ashton Gate. The loan deal out of young striker Antoine Semenyo all relies on the striker deal going through for a new forward at Ashton Gate, but Semenyo will continue to see his development stall the longer he warms the bench at Bristol City. The 20-year-old striker will have to wait for his moment until he can go out and get his opportunity to impress regularly on the senior stage this season, but he will may rue the striker deals not going through and become unhappy if he is left to warm the bench with the Robins. While the writing was on the wall regarding the striker’s future not long after he signed, and his lack of game-time in the three months since signing in October, it could still be a mistake of Bristol City’s to release the 29-year-old. While Rodri may have not pulled up any trees during his six appearances, in which he failed to score, Bristol City’s lack of a striker could come back to haunt them. Having missed out on Nketiah and Brewster, as well as Semenyo possibly heading out on loan, Andreas Weimann and Famara Diedhiou not firing on all cylinders and Marley Watkins possibly being out with an injury for the near future, the Robins and Lee Johnson may have released Rodri without looking at their short-term future in the striker department. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/3...eady-made-during-the-january-transfer-window/
How is Arsenal not letting Nketiah go back out on loan, or Brewster who we were never linked with moving to Swansea, mistakes by BCFC??
Smozdics off to Peterbro on loan Mistakes/errors of judgement/apples in one barrel/ eggs in 1 basket ….. all different degrees of the same thing... it is unlikely that EDDIE was guaranteed to come here … new manager and the apparent shortage of players that can play up front due to duties or injury or likely to leave! so that must have been "an icing on the cake loan" being so close to top 6 and not close enough to top 2 must be a conundrum on whether to splash the cash! …. I would go in with an offer for TONEY and Maddison with same structure deal as they got Eisa! OR .. would recall Taylor from Oxford OR play Semenyo more OR put in a bid for LAWRENCE SHANKLAND
