Marco and Gatesy fire us to promotion at the first attempt
Working away missed most of the games that year but managed to get down for this one
    Great day out

Time we were out of this bloody league

What a star Gates was, used to love listening to him on the Legends phone ins, he talked so much sense, mind Danny Collins hasn't been bad tonight on Total Sport, I hope LJ was listening, or he could always look Gatesy up and have a chat he could do a lot worse.

Thought Gatesy was excellent on Legends. Show was spoilt by Superdrunk. Gatesy and Bernie livened the show up. No one has got up to his standards since, though I do like Danny Collins.

Loved to listen to Ron Atkinson co-commentating too. They got rid of him because of a comment he made, despite players he had worked with saying he wasn't a racist, yet continued to employ the kerb crawler David Pleat. Talk about dual standards. More recently we've had to listen to Trevor Francis and Alan Smith - both dull as f*ck!

Big Ron, loved him to bits, him and Ian St John were the best double act ever, sad that he was hung out to dry over his comment which was not meant to be racist imo. On a happier note Gatesy was brilliant talking to the kids phoning in on the Xmas specials they had, he was so natural and the kids were brilliant, it was magical, radio at its best.

Viv busby was awesome. Remember him saying “if you keep missing you’ll score eventually “!! Probably my favourite saying from our football managers!!

@ISOE II mentioned Paul Atkinson on the "Dads" thread and I stumbled on this.

missed a lot of the action while serving, so obviously i love things like this that i missed, in my time of service there was no internet or mobiles, communication was by landline newspapers or fax only, even then no local papers.

When I was at Uni I used to get the footy echo sent down. The other football lads thought it was brilliant

that team were exellent going forward, you cannot compare this team but Mcgeady and Leadbitter would have got into that team out of the present squad and that would be that. yes we want the foldable seats like celtic's so we can get 60,000 in for big games.

No. The newsagents in Nairobi which doubled as a Post Office would keep them back.

I remember it well, donated shirts and boots(they were too small for their big feet), dropped them off at the Wheatsheaf. You started something there mate, hoping that they do well!

my wife is Kenyan so we go there every year for a few months, and i try my best to help the locals, i have tried the charities but they take such a large slice of the top i find it easier to try and think of projects myself, at the moment in Lamu on the coast there is massive development now , deep ports made cruise ships organised so british holidaymakers can benefit, but the covid struck, Also organised fresh tropical fruits shipped by air same day, it's working out well. and trying to get un to give young doctors 6months to a years field try, but having trouble getting the clinic built.
