We signed probably my favourite centre forward we have had in my lifetime. The one, the only Malcolm “Supermac MacDonald.

Those who saw him live would probably understand why. Did have the honour and privilege of meeting him a few years ago and he is a very humble man and it made my week if not month.

Loved him, that second goal against Burnley still makes the hairs stand up. Saw him a few years ago in the post office on Shields Road, Byker. "Top man", I told him. He just smiled.

I sat with Malcolm in a deserted pub in consett (the stateside) watching one of our games on a dodgy street. He’d tore me off a strip the week before when I praised Nicky Butt on the radio on the 3 legends and in that pub just before kick off he said ‘well young man let’s see how he plays today’.

    butt had a mate.

Not at all, there still won't be anyone as good as Hatem to have played football
