A couple of years ago I read that Noddy Holder and Jim Lea make about £250k per year in royalties for writing Merry Xmas Everybody

If the Pogues are genuinely not wanting the original song to be played on moral grounds, then they should permanently withdraw it from being used. Presumably as owners they or their management have the right to do so.
And while they're there being all holier than though, they could sell any properties, jewellery, cars etc that they gained from the song being released 30 odd years ago.
They can't have it both ways.

What an absolutely mental take on this.

They themselves recognised that one word (yes, one) might not be appropriate today and now they have to cancel the song and sell everything they ever earned from it?

Add to that the other topic where a kid going to a party and making a huge mistake in doing so now deserves a life changing mauling by a dog. As if none of us did really, really stupid stuff when we were kids.

People here can be vile. This echo chamber of a forum is batshit insane.

As I said they can't have it both ways. They wrote the song and now vehemently disagree with people who want to hear the original version, so why not withdraw it from being played and be done ?

"Maybe if the Police had done their job properly back in June and set a pack of ravenous and viscous Police dogs on all of the scum intent on mindless damage, we'd be in a better place now, and people might not have been so quick to organise raves and spread infection."

Yeah sounds like a lovely chap.

Though if that sort of thing is ok around here then that says it all.

So just get rid of anyone who disagrees with you? What a snowflake. That's gone well for the forum before hasn't it, I wonder why it's losing users by the year.

The police should evenly police all. Engage with the point made.

It's a chat forum response to your namby pamby attitude toward mindless law breakers who endanger all of us in a wider sense.

No probs Rob, but because you didn't say it and he did, does that make you a "lovlier chap" than him?

Nobodies crying, nobody is being namby pamby, everybody has a strong point of view, lets continue hearing them, left and right, no snowflakes or cornflakes, just respect the right of each other to discuss different points of view in an orderly manner.

I disagreed with the far-right protests but I don't think they should be mauled by ****ing dogs OS. But apparently if it's kids at a rave or BLM protestors then it's ok. Because that's what people on this forum hate. Ridiculous.

Reading the initial first few posts of the thread posters are clearly and unequivocally making points about creeping censorship and political correctness. A poster emphasising one word is yourself.

Crying .. That brings to mind your posts. You appear to have great difficulty expressing yourself in multiple over a significant period threads without insulting others.

That is not the point being made. Policing in Bristol was uneven. Precedence was set. I do not agree with elements of the criminal justice act and assembly, but while I disagree I do not support one law for them politically correct policing.

Yes there were. They were clearly far-right, shouting far right slogans. I proved it on here, with articles, images and videos. We all know Cliftonville is 100% incapable of admitting when he's wrong but I'm sure he can dig it out for you.

partly agree but every situation is different. they all wear bodycams so loads of info they should post every picture on a website … people can then see who the tw*ts are causing humanity such prolonged stress and death.
