This is a question that I genuinely would like answered by debate. First some background: On Friday night at the queue for the turnstiles there was a table and stewards were examining bags. Everyone with a bag had them examined. I find nothing wrong with this personally. However I noticed that supporters using the gate did not have any search. Bags placed at the back of wheelchairs were not examined at all. So here's the question. Do I point this out to the SMC?
I know where the button is to get you through the turnstiles if you've not got a pass! 3 lads had printed passes which didn't work and I watched as the steward pressed the secret button to let them them through!
Yes I think so, security at events is, unfortunately, a necessary evil these days and if you noticed it, so could others with evil intent. Better safe than sorry
The bags thing is a token gesture! How many people actually get searched? Anyone could get a device or gun in if they so wished?
Yes. It's pointless security theatre to make people think they're doing "something", but everyone knows that it would be ridiculously easy to smuggle something in if someone wanted. For show just like the stupid new gate. No one wants the levels of nonsense they went to at Stevenage, but if they really were concerned about security at the KCOM then a few well trained officers and CCTV would be far more effective than some Saturday jobbers peering ineffectively into a handbag.
Yes It's nonsense to search all bags...unless you're in a wheelchair However. The bigger question is how they're managing the fact that outside the stadium is becoming a risk ? Recent calls were for bags to be banned altogether to minimise crowds outside queuing up. I think it's fair to say that we have a problem in that area regardless of bag searches! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.da...y-expert-calls-ban-bags-football-grounds.html
I suspect a few Caz. Promising threads constantly get blown away by dodgy looking types looking to spoil everyone's fun. And you can't be too careful these days
This playful jibe illustrates why the shoe thing is a great idea. Make no mistake, Ehab would love to prevent any act of dissent. Indeed, people have been told their banners won't be allowed in even though they meet all the regulations. Something such as shoes which can't realistically be banned will really piss him off.
Were you queueing to get in North Stand about 7:30 ish on Friday, and was it the gate to the right of the turnstiles the wheelchairs were going in? If so I was the person behind you in the queue also chuntering in agreement
