I came across this today and had never heard it before (I'd never even been aware that he recorded it!) I think that it must have been filmed during a UK tour, given that he was being backed by Sounds Incorporated (a UK band) rather than his own. I wonder what @Jerry lee thinks of it? I rated it. Better, maybe, than the Presley version? Also an interesting interview (I think) with the man himself. It includes him performing 'When I saw her standing there' (the Beatles track). Plus another brilliant (imho) documentary that I've just found.
Elvis was Rock & Roll at the time, but walking into Jackie Whites Market after school, the voice belting out RIP IT UP was not Presley, it was of course our man, showing him how to do it. Gamechanger.
Great Post. Just as young people claim that football is better now they'll insist that music is better. Apparently anyone denying that is a nostalgic old fool. Fair enough, that's their choice and they don't have any other ... ... but I watched these clips, and the '73 FA Cup final today. I'm happy with my choice.
The Girl Cant Help, reminds me of the Lager add, its so good. What a line up. Havent got time to watch the Bragg Video but will do it tomorrow, he knows his stuff does young Mel.
Little richard was in Jackie whites market ! christ them were the days lol. I also watched the repeat of the 1973 final and still cannot believe Monty kept that 2nd shot out !, how ?
