Max just said "you can turn the engine down" I didn't think the pit wall could change anything on the car remotely or was he joking somehow?
I wonder how much power Merc were down? I don't think Lewis is 100% fit after covid. He even coughed during post quali interview. All that said max did a good job and Honda doing well. Hopefully next year Honda and ferrari pu will be at least equal to Merc pu
Despite the millions they pay surely the bad PR of ending the season year after year with this awful race isn't worth it. Kind of takes the shine off F1 before a massive break. Far from ideal.
Of course Lewis had every right to be in this race, but I'd rather have watched a fully fit Russell in that car than a struggling Hamilton.
Same... But I can't blame the bloke for wanting to get back. Think the best Russel could have had for today was second though. But a podium would have been some consolation. Get the lad in there next season!
We need to figure something to see us through winter now. Time to resurrect the Driver, track and year? Or any other thoughts?
Jenny Gowe on the bbc said they have all this money and produce a track like that , it made her want to scream !
It's a bit weird, they say on paper the track should be good for overtaking but it just doesn't work out that way. So looks like paper isn't good! After some of the races we have had this year on the less used more historic tracks it really does show how some of these herman tracks just don't give good races. I think he has too much of a formula to create tracks and it just doesn't work. Why they have used the same person for so many tracks I have no idea!! Seems madness. Bring back some more of the old tracks with character and challenges.
Lewis saw what happened last week and thought , ''this boy is good and showing me up, as in not so special. I best get back asap so he doesn't convince the world. Can't afford to let him get comfortable in MY car.' I genuinely think that was his thought process.
I don't think he was struggling at all. Just backing Bottas not only for 2nd in standings but also keep him in the team next year to make his 8th more easier.
Lewis did cough during the quali interview and on one of the Sky interviews after race. There are a few things that he has said that makes me think either he was worse than they said or he is milking it. No idea which. He said that one day he would right a book on it!! So you would think that something happened to enable him to write a book on his isolation. From what Merc said the MGU was only costing them 0.1sec per lap. In quali both Mercs would have beaten Max but not sure they would have stayed in front of Max as he does seem to have decent pace in race trim. I also wonder if it was just the racer in him that wanted to get back in car asap as if he didn't make this weekend he would have had to wait 100 days till testing. I think that the race licence is based on a set fee plus a $$ per point so more points would cost him more $$. I think there is something similar with team points. All very interesting but almost like Merc didn't really push for this race.
