All these ****s piling up the games in hand- let them enjoy their 2 matches a week with their weaker squads
Not quite a whoosh but what was un canny was that Ernie who lives in biffa land didn't read all 14 pages of the thread but managed to guess at about 10 or so lines that were almost word for word in there. Not the same when you have to explain the joke.
If it had been Eaves putting in the sort of display Wilks did tonight, you wouldn't have been able to move for the abuse all across the Internet. He's ****ing frustrating too often for me.
You'd have to aim that question at the original poster Seriously though,we're second in the League,we've just walked over the top of 2 of our rivals,we never got at it tonight but have a reasonable chance of putting Swindon to the sword on Saturday. We have a big squad and a subs bench that must be the envy of all our rivals. That will make a major difference when we watch the second half of the season unfold.
Disappointing - City really made enough chances but lacked sharpness on a very heavy looking pitch. The chance for Wilkes in the first half when he was clear in the box but had a bad touch and the attack lost all momentum set an unfortunate trend. A bad night but it was always going to be a hard game.
Whatmough can go wrong for that hapless Pompey larker? Two OGs last Sat, sent off tonight on 27 mins and enabled Lincoln to win.
What's more, Whatmough slipped on the soap in the showers and injured himself, then he went home and found his missus in bed with his best mate, then he discovered he'd forgot to put the lottery on and he had the winning numbers, but he's had worse days.
Been saying the same since we signed him - he's young and still learning his trade, oh for a Chris Chilton type to take him under his wing like Chillo did for Rambo Billy.
As has been said we were 2nd best all over the pitch tonight. Though in defence of the players, I do believe A Stanley not having a game for a week, whereas we had 3 games did have an effect. As Brucey used to say, yes they can play 3 games in a week but not all at the same intensity. You only have to be off by 5% and that can make the difference. Nevertheless, Terry maybe in hindsight should have rotated more players, but I can understand why he stuck with more or less the same team as Saturday. The important thing now is the weekend, we have to get back to winning ways.
I said repeatedly before the game we had to make changes and this was why. The intensity just wasn't there. We have a squad, let's use it. I've had a count, I think we've got 21/22 remaining games scheduled and it leaves 6-midweek spots available between now and May. Obviously, it's 5 midweek spots once we have that final game put in. So that leaves Donny 2 weeks that they aren't playing midweek, Accrington only have 1. That's a stupid schedule but they've been at an advantage by not playing as many games, well it's about to turn around and bite them. Talking of Donny, their squad isn't in a great place, Whiteman gone, TJJ out injured for a while and without Sims, although it looks like he's going back. The next few days in the transfer window is so important to them as the squad they have now won't take them up. There's too many games and it's too thin a squad. They also enter a run of games which is tasty to say the least: Lincoln Oxford Fleetwood Sunderland Accrington Us Blackpool Ipswich Pompey That 9 game run takes them to the start of March. After those, they'll have either dropped off or be absolutely flying. We've just come through a very tricky run of games which we've got through okay. I think Sunderland, us and Pompey will be the 3 fighting for the auto places. Everyone else's squad just looks way too thin.
So now the dust has settled was it wise to play 10 out of the 11 that started the last 2 matches ? I warned of this on page 1 .. you can't keep flogging a willing horse, we saw the effects of this earlier this season .. an outbreak of covid allowed us a little rest .. and the performances improved .. but looks like the same mistake is being made again. With such a hectic work load the squad HAS to be managed .. I know we would all love to play the same 11 who have performed well .. but those levels can only be maintained for so long. They are playing on heavier pitches and the make up of the human body will eventually tire. Last night you could see the energy levels were down .. and again as I have pointed out.. AS .. hadnt played for a week .. the difference was there for all to see. Smart management is required at this period .. we have a decent enough squad to rotate things in a sensible manner.
