QPR are lining up a shock move for Adel Taarabt. The Sun are reporting that the West London outfit are hoping to bring back the out of favour Moroccan back to the club. He is currently at Benfica but severally out of favour, training with the clubs reserves. He has been told that he is free to leave this month if there is an offer. It is believed that Hoops manager Steve McClaren wants to bring him in on a deal until the end of the season. Taarabt played a big role in Rangers’s promotion season to the Premier League in 2011and could be set to help them push for the play-offs this term. He has struggled to make a name for himself in Portugal. He joined Rangers originally from Tottenham on loan in 2009 after he failed to break into the first team. After impressing in that spell he made the permeant switch to West London that summer. However, once promoted to the Premier League he failed to nail down a regular place in the side and following relegation was loaned to Fulham. Another loan spell, this time at AC Milan would follow before he left permanently in 2015 for Benfica. Having struggled to form this way into Benfica’s starting eleven he joined Genoa on loan. He was a regular in the side making 28 appearances and scoring two goals. However, there was no permanent move and Taarabt is surplus to requirements at Benfica. His contract runs until the summer of 2020. However, the club are willing to let him leave this month.
Precisely. Macca has the team 'gelling'..... something old dickie knees couldn't do. The last thing we need is a poison apple. Nothing happening here. Keep moving forward please.
I would certainly want him in any QPR side as our number ten. The player can score or make goals from any situation plus he terrifies the opposition He may not have a off field brain but on it he is a genius imo Taarabt with a point to prove in the championship at his home he would have to given a go
Loved Adel when he was with us that year with Warnock, some of the football he played was sublime. However romantic it may be, I'm not so sure I'd want him back to mess up what appears to be a very settled dressing room, and can only imagine if he did return that it'll end in tears for someone. However, I have been led to believe from a reliable source that he is currently attempting to buy his way out of his Benfica contract, in an attempt to force a move through, whether this be to ourselves or another team I don't know. For Adel to return to us, we must free up space and wages in the squad as anyone who comes in can only receive 60% of the wages that outgoing players earned (think those figures are right - feel free to correct me if it's wrong). Outgoing, I'd imagine Sylla is definately on his way, Goss also I'd think. Smyth out on loan too, but would all their wages add up to affording Adel? He doesn't even seem to be a McLaren type of player, he likes his players to be able to help the team out at the back if required, which is not one of Adels strengths. I'd be amazed if this did happen, has all the hallmarks of big Tony meddling.....
Yeah coz football isn’t about fun. Here’s 13 minutes of it. Of course he barely had an impact on actual results. That’s why he was Championship Player of the Year. FFS.
