Because Biden promised there would be consequences for the suicide bomb attack on Kabul airport. Early intelligence suggested the people targeted were more suicide bombers about to go on another mission. It was incorrect intelligence, the people they targeted was the family of an aid worker.

 

So they ain't really pulled out then?

I can't remember the exact timeline now, but I think the innocent people were targeted before final withdrawal, my assumption and it is only that, would be the Americans thought they were going to target the airport again.
