Off Topic Ahhh... the good news thread

I have the Robert Johnson recordings but tend to prefer the interpretations of blues from the 60s blues boom.

You have to take into account the quality of guitars they had in the 60's compared to 30 odd years previously. The Strat changed things, and Les Paul did too.

 

I am a big fan of Big Bill Broonzy, Buddy Guy, Freddie and Albert King.

I saw Buddy Guy play at The Royal Albert Hall with Eric Clapton and Robert Cray many years ago. It was an excellent night.

 

I've got an old vinyl of Lightnin' Hopkins that I got in a newsagent for 50p almost 50 years ago. Anyone remember Dobell's? You could spend hours there.

I was asked to play some songs by Scottish artists so managed to create a whoile show of artists with Scottish origins.

 

Thank you for not including the Bay City Rollers.

 

I was tempted ... they are on the station's system but not in my personal collection I hasten to add.

The only ones I had to source from the station were Marmalade, Amy MacDonald and Tourists (who I saw in 1978 as warmup for Ian Dury at Hammersmith Odeon).
