Alex McLeish resigned as Birmingham boss following a series of disagreements with the Blues' board, according to the League Managers' Association. LMA chief Richard Bevan told BBC Radio 5 live: "Alex decided to resign because there were serious issues. "It dates back to May when Alex's chief scout was sacked and not being consulted over player transfers." McLeish quit his job on Sunday. Internet speculation suggested he was paving the way to take over at their city rivals Aston Villa. But the suggestions now coming from the 52-year-old's representatives are that his decision was solely based on his working terms at the recently relegated club. The LMA is also claiming that Birmingham have broken employment law by giving details of McLeish's contract to the media. Bevan continued: "The LMA recognise it is often very difficult for clubs and chairmen, especially with the financial pressures and 24/7 media coverage. However, it is very disappointing that some clubs don't follow normal principles of employment law - which can undermine the game, the club and even the community the club is based in. "Mr [Peter] Pannu, a senior member of the board, has put into the public domain confidential information contained in Alex's contract. This is without doubt a breach of confidence. "It is disappointing that Alex appears to have been criticised for sending his formal resignation letter by e-mail, particularly given that one of the issues Alex resigned over was Mr Pannu's sacking of Alex's chief scout, who learned that he was to be dismissed when he was copied in on an e-mail from Mr Pannu to one of the club's officials." McLeish's chief scout Paul Montgomery was sacked after just over two years in his post.
I am not McLeish's biggest fan to be honest, i didn't like the style of footnall we have had to endure since he took over, so to see a new manager at the Blues will hopefully be a breath of fresh air. As for Peter Pannu, he is turning into another David Sullivan IMO, Carson Yeung should really have a word with him, because he seems to like the press and the attention a la Sullivan
