Sad inbox from Lisa Gauden-Hernandez that her Father Allan Gauden who played for SAFC in 1962 who made 43 appearances and scored 6 goals has sadly passed away today from alzheimer's
Rest in peace and love from the red and white army

When I first left school in 1978 I got on a Government Training Scheme and was positioned at Durham Fire Brigade Headquarters at Framwellgate Moor and Allan was the janitor there, although I had no idea who he was. Really cracking bloke, funny as owt, spent a lot of time with him, liked his betting on the horses, for some reason his nickname was Crocker. I think he was running the Sunday team at Fram club at the time.
RIP Allan, shared many a laugh with you and the lads there.

RIP...lad...remember him way back when. If I'm right I think went to play quite a few games in the lower leagues. Was he in the team when we signed Jim Baxter? My memory is sh*t these days...

RIP, probably saw most of his safc games. From memory, a great trier, a very honest footballer with good skills, never let the lads down.

    R.I.P.

If I remember correctly, he came into the team as a replacement for Bobby Kerr when he broke his leg.

Only recollection I have of him was at Hull ,second replay V Leeds if I remember correctly , could be mistaken but he might have even scored I will have to check . Certainly not a regular.

I was at that match and the officials robbed us blind.
If that wasn't bad enough we had to dodge a hail of rocks and bottles on our way out of the stadium thanks to those nice fans from Yorkshire.
That sort of things tends to taint your views of certain clubs fans.

    It was disgraceful!

Even Peter Lorimer said "I am not saying that Stokes (the ref.) was (got at), but the issue begged close examination".

For anyone who wasn't there but wants to know more, this is well worth a read - it shows just how 'bent' Revie was!

Revie stained everything he touched, Hill was a novice by comparison to that stinker.

    Good read OF.
Says something when the Leeds players smelt a rat, and they were right the tackle was five yards outside the box with the Ref on the half way line. Revie subsequently was accused of paying money to fix games including by Bob Stokoe.
This is what made 73 more the sweeter.

Iirc, the next game at Roker was against Everton and the club made an announcement, over the Tannoy, that "Contrary to rumours circulating Mr Ken Stokes would not be officiating at this afternoon's match".

A significant number had gone to the ground for a reason other than watching the football!
