Ok then, if I shouted "**** the Jedis", which for some ridiculous reason is a recognised religion(not even sure if it is in Scotland, but you get my point) as there are more than something like 3,000 members worldwide, I would be charged with BoP with the sectarian bit added on?
Dev, does the pope not believe that all men are born equal? In that sense, why should it be any different if you shout about him or if you shout about any other singular person?
You have to remember that Scots Law is "Common Law" for the most part, which means that these laws are based upon common sense. Common sense dictates that people should be free of religious persecution or taunting, even Jedis I suppose. People are entitled to have their religious views and to not be mocked for them. I say that as an aetheist.
I've already explained that Fat Gingers would have a right to be offended if their "Peace" is breached.
Here's an extreme example for anyone who has kids. If a guy started shouting insults at your 5 year old son in the street and calling him all sorts of names, is the guy just using his "freedom of speech" or is he breaching you and your son's peace?
How do you go about "officially" recognising it? Anyway, whether it is or not, that wasn't my point, but I'm guessing you knew that anyway.
Why just charge him with BoP, why not BoP and add on a bit about children at the end to make it a more serious offence?
Your point was invalid because it cited an example that isn't held by the law to be the same as proper religions. To be honest, I think everyone's getting bogged down on the religious aspect of this particular story when they should be recognising it for what it is: a drunken act of stupidity by someone who should have known better.
yes they were there. no I wasnt talking to them. I asked a lawyer about it russ. He said they had zero right to arrest me. shock horror
Did you have any dope on you at the time? My brother-in-law used to arrest people simply so he could get free dope.
Admittedly this is 10 years old, but it says it near the bottom, anyway, I am going to watch Shankill Butchers on iplayer.http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/10/09/jedi_knights_achieve_official_recognition/
