Wasn't sure where to post this. It isn't ''And Now For Something Completely Different', as I assume that (enjoyable) thread should be kept to things really different Others have commented that we maybe shouldn't keep mixing other unrelated football news into City threads, hence, suggesting a new thread '... and in Other Football News'? Anyway, I somehow missed this. A THIRD European competition!! So much for some saying there's already too much football? https://www.bt.com/sport/football/f...ssociations are involved in UEFA competitions. "There will be no Scottish clubs in the competition after Aberdeen and St Johnstone were both eliminated in the final round of qualifying. The Dons were outclassed by Azerbaijan’s Qarabag, losing 3-1 on aggregate, while St Johnstone were beaten by Austrian side LASK".

Bragging rights here, I bet I am the only board member who has visited this stadium? Sadly it wasn't on a match day. It is a fascinating country. The road the reporter refers to is the main (possibly only?) route into Transnistria. It was super smooth and tree lined. Unlike the rest of the roads in Moldova and Transnistra. Driving there, every few mins the guide would be driving at 70mph, then jam all on or hugely swerve (just avoiding oncoming traffic) due to a deep pothole (not talking Hull potholes, more like bloody sinkholes). Crossing the border was an experience, with initially a Russian passport checkpoint followed by Moldovan, with a no mans land in between. At the Russian check, soldiers waving huge machine guns interrogate you about the reasons for travel, etc. My mate who has travelled extensively around ex soviet countries (as his passport shows) was heavily interrogated (in Russian, so we didn't have a clue what was going on). He then turns to us and tells us he's told them I was a teacher and Mrs A a GP. Mrs A, is not use to lying and immediately crumbled! Face coloured, heavily sweating, became stuttery. She thought she was on a one way trip to Siberia. Our guide was (apparently) clearly linked to KGB. My mate worked as a tv journalist in the Ukraine, and a necessary part of the job was apparently the ability to sniff them out. One of the signs was the very obvious interest he had in my mate's work and travels. The guide was very skilled at showing us what he wanted us to see. He was also insistent that the country had no crime or unemployment. As the report describes, the country is very poor but tries to portray as this really well developed country to visitors. Fascinating country though, it was no surprise to learn about the corruption and it's involvement in smuggling/ international crime etc
Really impressive that one bloke can beat one of the top teams in Europe. Wearing a git big, ****-off cowboy hat and a big, shiny badge anarl. Impressive.
