Hi Lincoln fans! Any club historians among you? My club Charlton has just signed centre-back Matt Taylor from Exeter, who played as a goalkeeper in non-league until 24. This got me thinking about outfield players and goalkeepers who switched roles in their careers. I don't mean just "having a go" in emergencies, but a real career switch. One that came to mind was Andy Graver. I know he was perhaps your most famous player (still record scorer?). Like Michael Boulding from Grimsby he was one of those players who looked far too classy for lower divisions, but failed when given the chance at the top level. I remember him switching to goalkeeper at more than one time in his career and twice saw him play there at our ground, but I can see no mention of that in his Wikipedia article. Am I going mad? (It helps to be mad to support Charlton these days). Or can someone confirm what I think I remember?
