Some really interesting reading here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Murray includes Andy's early years, the Dunblane massacre in which he was caught up in, career statistics and incidents, it also goes some way to explaining the English/Scottish/British argument (created and blown up by others) the only thing I couldn't find here were facts on a personal level, however I did find this article which was pre wimbledon last year: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1288188/Andy-Murray-reignites-flame-ex-Kim-Sears.html note the anti Scot comments from Joe public
Thanks lala, I hadn't read his Wikepedia page, I'll have a proper read of that tomorrow, some interesting links on there. That is so chilling, his mum giving Hamilton rides in her car!
Yes it is chilling, I knew he'd been in the school when it happened but I think he was a year older and therefore not in the gym where it happened but in an adjoining room, whatever, it must have had a profound affect on him even if he is unaware of it. I have also noted that he doesn't talk about it. Very sad and I remember how it played on my mind for weeks after it happened, doesn't bear thinking about the affect it had on those at the school and in Dumblane as a whole. Andy has made a positive out of that town/village which was once only widely known because of the tragedy.
I was a fan of Ivan Lendl......and used to follow him through the heartaches of his Wimbledon Tournaments. So my interest was awakened when I heard he was becoming Andy Murray's full time coach.......what benefits do you tennis buffs think he could bring to Murray's game .......if any ?
I'm no tennis buff by any stretch of the imagination but I have to say it's been disappointing so far. He seemed to take a lift initially from having Lendl in his corner, reaching the semi-final of the Australian Open including that epic match against Djokovic. Since then it's been very up and down. Rather than getting the consistency he needs to get to the final of tournaments, he's lost a series of matches in minor tournaments against opposition he would expect to beat easily. Lendl wont be with him for the French. Might turn out to be a positive.
Hi Plym, thanks for paying us a visit. I would agree that Andy's form has been dissapointing since Lendl arrived. Everyone (including myself) seemed to think that this would be the last piece of the jigsaw which would propel Andy up there with the best but so far this hasn't materialied, if anything his form has dipped. Maybe he is waiting for one of the big 4 to show us what he can do and with the French about to begin in under a week my theory will be tested. I for one will not be holding my breath!
Maybe there is a time of adjustment to new ways that has created a blip for Murray at present.....Lendl has been around the block a few times and has won a few grand slams in his time.........maybe through Murray he can help win the one that always got away.........but first there is one that he did know how to win.....we will see Mrs LaLa.
I listened to a very interesting radio interview with David Walsh the cycling journalist. He said he was delighted to see Murray so ****ed at the end of every match as he used to cringe at how well Lance Armstrong looked after 7 hours brutal cycling.
Where's is Epona Goddess of horses, ponies, donkies and asses? I went out with a lassie that rode horses. I couldn't compete.
I’m fed up with these millionaire celebrities, be they sports, music or whatever holding press conferences and howling their eyes out, seemingly looking for sympathy. No doubt Andy Murray will now get an exclusive pundit contract with Sky, just to add some more money to his millions!! Get a grip man and grow up!!!
He’s a miserable porridge wog prick. **** em I say and when Brexit kicks in, hopefully him and his ilk fk off back to Scotland and leave us English to get back to what we do best and that’s punch above our wait.
