Horrible game, with no sign whatever of more attempt to up the attacking flair or performance.
Chilwell was absolutely atrocious, never even tried to pass or go forward, all stop and pass back. Silva had a shocker, should have been sent off, and slowed everything down like Jorginho.
Unimpressed with Fofana so far, but he will need time. Give me Trevoh everyday. He links better with James and tries to attack. Potter is doing it arse about face, Trevoh should be starting and gaining the experience while Fofana is allowed to grow into the team. His price tag doesn't make him ready.
The defence was opened up repeatedly by simple direct and clever attack, more a criticism of Potter than the players. If he's the answer, we're asking the wrong question. He's had weeks to sort out the mess that is our squad and played the same old faces in an unfamiliar set up and what?? Did he expect a different result? We have no creative players except Havertz and James, the rest are mediocre to good imposters. Kepa our best for me, kept us in it all day.
If Potter is trying to stabilise things and play the "experienced" yet chronicly underperforming starting 11, he's going to find us so far behind the top 4 it's all over. Gallagher, Broja ignored again, then show more in 10 minutes as subs than Mount and Jorghino in 80.
Very disappointing, turgid, lazy, predictable display which I think is all we've got, unless the manager grows a pair and plays someone with flair, passion and energy. Too many overpaid, overrated bludgers getting a start.

I thought we played alright. He has been here a few weeks but you have to remember most of our squad will have been on international duty so he won’t have had time
    working with them.

It’s the best I’ve seen from Havertz and Mount this season, granted it’s a low bar but it’s definitely a start. The midfield struggled but overall I thought we were okay with room for improvement, which is probably expected at this stage.

Possibly, but why did he set us up like that?
We were so bloody slow , so much sideways and backwards, thats fundamental to whats so bad about us. Yet we did nothing different. He needs to shake the players to the bone get some passion and energy going. Only Kova tried to run, everyone else strolls or tries to pass our way forward. Broja and Gallagher with RLC changed things and that has to be the way to go !

Finally some sign of life at the Bridge. After a pretty good 1st half, with a couple of heart stopping mistakes , the second half saw us looking more like a top 4 side.
Silva, who was really exposed and had a poor game against Palace, looked as good as he ever has for us. Koulibaly had his moments, but was more confident ,and Fofana scored a well scrambled goal but made some poor tackles before being injured.
Trevoh in my opinion is a better player at right back at the moment than Fofana, and James sprang into life after Trevoh came on. In fact, not all down to Trevoh, but the whole team came alive. Sterling was poor for mine, gave the ball away, made poor passes and decisions, and never looked like scoring. Also think Chilwell looks tentative and reluctant to bomb on. Maybe he's not quite fit again, maybe it's confidence, but he's not at his best. Nor is Mount .OK but not convincing.
Still significantly best display post Tuchel, and signs things are on the up. RLC and Kovacic never stop trying and add plenty of zip.

Much better performance from the boys in the CL this time around.
Aubameyang seems to still be able to put them away, which is a good sign, thats exactly what we signed him for.
Reece James, that boy is the dogs bollocks, love him. Best player our academy has produced since JT.
Mount is good, but he really needs to step up a gear for me

Mount has not been at his best for some time now, and it's a mystery. He seems to have lost that zip and he rarely hits the target when he is in good positions.Starting to think it's more a mental problem, is something going on with him we don't know about? Maybe it's just the significant and long winded off pitch problems with the Club and the new owners, losing Tuchel, all caused massive changes to the routine he had grown up with since he was a very young lad.Hope he snaps out of it and gets his oomph back.

Pleased to see Mount looking like his old self with a strong game and some clever play.Lots more positive attack up front with Gallagher a livewire, popping up everywhere in a non stop attack and defend mode. Has to inspire others todo the same, and you could sense the lift in positive thinking was working through the team.
Another big step in the right direction from everyone.

Certainly will. Seems while you, as usual knew better, a certain ex Chelsea manager agrees 100% that Mounts return to form has much to do with his mental outlook being improved. You of course thought that suggestion laughable.
    Still laughing??

I was laughing about your about-face in 3 days. And the fact he played well the very day you posted. Maybe don't take yourself so seriously

Mason on the double today, hopefully he can match his stats from last season or at least get close.... 11 goals/10 assists for a player who gets criticised but has played a lot of football in recent seasons

Well OK but Mason Mount did an about face with his form too.
Tough and slightly ugly game today, we were rocky first half but quite dominant 2nd. 2 excellent goals from MM, who also looked back in his normal mode. Kepa was simply brilliant, there's another player who has sorted himself out, no doubt also with encouragement from the Manager.Time to give Broja a proper run out? Aubameyang might benefit from a couple of games from the subs bench.
