Appreciate everything has to be a culture war now but does anyone really, really care about this? It doesn’t affect 99.5% of us and for the rest it’s a good thing. Don’t get how anyone is so negative about it.
So agree with you Bernwood, I have no idea why it winds up so many people in general, and so many on here seem obsessed by this issue. And why so many on here feel a need to put up "funny" comments. Live and let live..and respect everyone
Leaving aside the pronoun thing, which is virtue signalling in the extreme, it's a terrible message for a company to send out "We're an all inclusive, broad-minded bank and if you don't like what we impose on our staff, close your ****ing account." It's yet another example of the narrow, intolerant woke mindset.
I just read it as them saying it’s an option all their customers have. If it really bothers you (not you specifically) that much then feel free to go. Or be an adult and appreciate why this is a thing in 2022 and stop being a massive gammon about it. Where I work it’s an option to put pronouns in our email signature. An option I haven’t bothered to take up but still. You’d be boycotting a hell of a lot of companies if Halifax using pronouns on a name badge is enough to move your money elsewhere.
There you go, chucking abuse about. I'm amazed the Halifax didn't call any customer that disagreed with them a gammon. Woke is the most intolerant mindset in the UK since the Puritans. I'm indifferent if some staff choose to put pronouns on their badge, so long as it's not compulsory. But it doesn't take a mastermind to work out that if you say to a customer who politely queries a company's practice - if you don't like it, go elsewhere - it's a public relations nightmare. I bank with Halifax and I'm wondering whether the next time I query anything, I'll be told I can go elsewhere.
I did say it wasn’t aimed at you specifically. Halifax are probably far more tolerant of random customers losing their **** about pronouns than I am in fairness so won’t be calling them gammon any time soon even if the bloke behind the counter is thinking it. You can bank elsewhere. You can boycott any business for any reason if you want. It’s the manufactured oppression that I find baffling.
It's simply bad business to tell (often) long term customers who question a practice that they can go elsewhere. Far better to explain and be inclusive and polite, and try to bring the customers with them. How Halifax handled the questioning customers is the sign of a poor corporate and it will lose them business unnecessarily.
I have no idea why we are arguing about this. Halifax is a company and can do anything they like within the law. We can choose to agree with their action, not agree...or simply ignore the whole thing as irrelevant to me ( which is what I will do) as it is not my concern how people identify themselves... ....if it were I would ban every body called Boris from coming anywhere near me....regardless of what their views actually were. Ban all people who identify with the name Boris
How dare he use language like that Where's my pitchfork I hope Laurence is sent to a reeducation centre
I think Poor Laurence was offended, which probably means somebody at LNER will need to be re-educated if they’re to stay in their job.
He should've announced "Oi ****s, your train's ****ing late as usual"...would probably offend less people
Surprised Ryanair haven't spotted such a gap in the banking market, theirs would apply to everybody...
A friend of mine has just been badly abused on a train coming back from pride... for wearing a dress. Thank goodness I don't suffer the same fate for wearing trousers.
