Stewart Donald – apology The Sun 25th January 2020, 10:00 pm Updated: 26th January 2020, 3:22 am IN an article, ‘SUNDEMAND Sunderland owner Stewart Donald wants £40m for sale of the Black Cats’ (12 Oct), we claimed that Stewart Donald, the owner of Sunderland Football Club, was risking the collapse of a deal to sell the club by making late demands for large promotion bonuses. We now understand that that was not the case, and are happy to make that clear and apologise to Mr Donald https://www.thesun.co.uk/clarifications/10821962/stewart-donald-apology/
Love the way the Donald outers are trying to twist in along the lines of "If that's the bit they're admitting was incorrect then the rest of the article must be true". Funny that the whole of the story it relates to has been removed from the interweb
Am I right in thinking this isn't the first apology the Sun has made to Donald? Pretty bizarre how someone on their staff is really interested in the owner of a league one club. I smell a mag.
So am I take from all this that donald is in fact the good guy after all. He in fact has taken us over despite: Having insufficient money of his own to buy us out Having no affiliation with us in any way shape or form His only experience in football was with the equivalent if a pub team Silly me, he is on fact a caped football club philanthropist who wants to banish the evil from our club and awaken the sleeping giant.
I wonder what the correspondence between our Owner and The Sun, about these apologies reads like? I suspect something along the lines of, 'any more incorrect slanderous stories and I'll see yo in court'.
Agreed. I wonder how many of the SD outist's who have based their opinion on this report have the balls to actually stand up and say "I was wrong". In my opinion SD may not be the perfect owner for our club but the work he's done to make us sustainable deserves credit. He's always said he'll need investment to take us to the next level yet some seem to have conveniently forgotten this. Some of our fans seem to have a sense of entitlement which is almost as bad as the black and white bastards up the road.
You never heard the saying "you have to start somewhere" Brain ? Or did you think there was a wizards school of league football club owners ?
In fairness, if what Donald has said recently is true, they've probably got the complete wrong end of the stick. Eg: they come in and do a loan with a possibility of doing more if we get promoted. That gets twisted by someone to 'Donald will only sell of he gets a bonus after they get promoted'
They won't cos they've got their own agenda. I've no proof but it's just my opinion that these fans organisations are being fed info from other 'parties' . From ppl who were attempting to buy the club b4 SD.
I wouldn't call Eastleigh a 'pub team' either. There are some very well run clubs at that level and there are just as many challenges running a non-league club as there are running a club like SAFC. They might be different challenges but challenges all the same.
