Not enough protection for the full backs there, AH. Burke and Redmond would run riot.

    Hamer
    Solly - Morro - Cort - wiggins
Green - Pritchard (quicker than Hollands) - Stephens - JJ
    Kermo - BWP

It remains to be seen if Cort is fit enough to play after CP bungled things on Tuesday, making him play for 120 minutes and injured towards the end.

And Taylor and Hollands also played 120 minutes when the latter is weeks behind other players in his pre-season readiness. Not the best preparation for a tough away match with another hard test following on Tuesday. And all this for a match we were prepared to throw anyway by putting out an otherwise reserve team.

I have no doubt Stephens will start, possibly as defensive midfield which I would not be happy about. He is too careless when in possession.

I doubt if Cook will start. CP is very conservative. If Hollands is not 100% fit I would prefer to see Jackson replace him than Stephens, but I imagine CP will continue with Jackson at LM and Stephens at CM. In which case Pritchard could be RM to give a more defensive formation, as at Fulham.

In other words, CP will revert to the team that did well at Fulham, subject to Cort and Hollands fitness.

Based on the team which played Leyton Orient I expect the formation to be 4-3-3 and this is the team I think he'll set out

    --------Hamer--------
    Solly-Taylor/Cort-Morrison-Wiggins
    --Pritchard-Stephens-Jackson--
    --Haynes--Kermorgant--Wright-Phillips

If we play 4-3-3 then one of Kermo or BWP have to be dropped. Neither will work on the left/right. Haynes, Cook and Wagstaff on either of the flanks with one of the other 2 playing in the middle.

Oh and as for prediction - I think we'll battle our way to a draw. I'm going 1-0 B'ham at HT, Charlton to equalise from a corner in the second.

Just lost a draft reply so apologies in advance if this turns up twice.

Is Belv about or like me did he resort to lurker status over the summer? Enjoyed his match threads last season and look forward to tomorrow and bit of banter on here.

Been a strange summer. Feels as though we have been treading water a bit after the euphoria of last season but I'm glad in a way that we are going in with essentially the same team that got us there. Im' reasonably optimistic about the season as a whole but we couldn't have picked a harder opener if we tried and I wouldn't be surprised to collect a bit of a beating. Who knows though! Hope Kermit doesnt get himself sent off as I want to see him take a penalty on Tuesday. Agree (as usual) with Eddie's views about the Orient team selection. Hope Cort is ok.

I'd go with the usual back five if fit, Stephens, Jacko, Cook and Green, BWP and Kermit. Jacko in the middle. But I'm willing to bet serious money that that won't be the team. Wouldn't surprise me to see a 4-5-1 with Waggy as the fifth midfielder tasked with getting forward to support Kermit with BWP on the bench.

I'm optimistic about this season, too.

Yes, it's going to be hard, but this is what we fought for all last season.

I fancy us for a couple of goals tomorrow, but I also have a very healthy respect for Messrs Redmond (who IMO should have been in the Olympic side) and Zigic.

    Draw 2-2.

Packed in watching the game at half-time tonight - ye gods, it's dull.

Nice pint of Stowford, though. <ok>

Anyone going tomorrow? My first visit to St. Andrews, felt like a kid awaiting Christmas all week. The Olympics has been great, but this is what it's all about, COME ON CHARLTON!

I know. The Championship is expensive. And it's the same across all of the clubs.

Think it was £37.50 for the one Championship match I was at last year, where I got to hear Derby sing their one song

"One song... we only have one song... we only have one song. One song..."

Nervous about this one, but by the end of the day we will have some idea about our squad in this league and whether the whole "momentum" thing will work. I Will be hoping for a draw but a confident start!! COYR!!

Easy trip for me, which goes some way to making up for the disappointment of missing my first home game of the season in goodness knows how long on Tuesday - and the two tickets for 30 quid offer...:emoticon-0106-cryin

Price is going to be an issue this season - I know I've been joking about getting into The Valley for half-price soon, but most concessions don't kick in until 65 at away grounds.

My daughter and I will be catching the 12.08pm from Notts to Brum New Street, arriving at 1.24pm. We will have a couple of pictures taken at the Tony Hancock statue and then a half hour walk to St. Andrews.
This will be my fourth trip to Brum and the ground seems to improve greatly with each visit. I suppose that is due to their brief flirtations with the Premier League.

I'm going for a 2-1 Charlton win - a thumping header from Kermit to seal the deal.

See you see there, folks - COYR!
